Double Challenge--DoS/DoF

Post by Cassius Gaius Maximius »

Over the years, I've learned that it is best to simply attach your missive of challenge to the cork. People can read it verbatim, it's simpler, nothing is hidden.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some of you may notice that two sets of officials, from two specific bloodsports, are receiving this missive. I'll be brief and to the point. I, Gaius of the Cassii, known for years in these parts as Cassius Gaius Maximius, am issuing challenge to Rakeesh Sah Tarna for the 13th ring, the ring of New Haven. In addition, I am at the same time using my status as an emerald of the Outback to also challenge Rakeesh for the Black Opal, Shadoweaver.
My reasons for doing this should be quite well known to those who keep up with this cycle's past events. I'll say no more on the subject than to say that I hold no permanent enmity towards the Liontaur, and will consider the matter settled regardless of the result of either of the challenges. The primary reason for also issuing challenge in DoF is that if Rakeesh insists on dueling after the WLT, and I end up competing in and winning a prize in said tournament, I will still have the Opal challenge. Regardless, I will not back down from one challenge despite the results of the other. Let me make that clear now.
Here are my peer wins for the Swords challenge. Needless to say, none are needed for the Fists challenge.
Def. JohnathanHavoick, 5-2 in 8 rounds, DUEL Rhaine, 1-26-06
Def. GnortDragoon, 5-4 in 8 rounds, DUEL Imp, 3-9-06
Def. Sylus Kurgen, 5-2 in 6 rounds, DUEL Imp, 3-9-06
Def. Ekthbljgke, 5-2 in 9 rounds, DUEL Xenograg, 3-31-06
Def. KajaAdair, 5-0 in 8 rounds, DUEL Rissa, 4-2-06
Def. JokuShoyia, 6-5 in 15 rounds, DUEL Imp, 4-13-06
Def. TinyTopaz, 5.5-3 in 11 rounds, DUEL Delroy, 5-25-06
Def. Skyler CJ, 5-2, DUEl Delroy, 5-25-06
Def. DelroyMcCloud, 5-2, DUEL DesFontaine, 5-26-06
Def. Ticallion Carter, 5-3 in 11 rounds, DUELRoryLaurent, 6-1-06
I await your response, Baron/Opal holder.
Lord Cassius,
I humbly accept your proposal to challenge. It will be an honor to face you again, in the Rings, effendi.
Rakeesh, you better win the Baronial match at least. I still want that bounty on your title for myself.
Effendis,
Pending the results of the Warlord Tournament, we have decided to set the challenge for the 13th, at 9PM. If the Tournament runs an extra day, we will push it back to the 14th. If anyone would like to call, I would be greatly in your debt. We wish to handle both the Barony and Opal challenge at once.
I was about to get jealous, Rakeesh... but knowing I still have that special place in Cas' little heart, I feel better and hope you win. If he started hating you as much as he hated me, I might have to rooted against you for trying to replace me.
Okay, so I would have rooted for you either way. Can't fault me for defending my turf.
Good luck.
Given that he seems to have been amused by getting involved in this matter, I advise Karen Wilder to note that, currently, a self-righteous man is doubtlessly obsessed with regaining a ring he sees as his.
I advise caution and preparedness, apparently, our community isnot yet free from this psychosis.
I wasn't going to challenge you anyway, Karen. I was Baron of the Tenth, not Seaside, Dockside, Inside, or Outside. And my supposed obsession of the ring is outweighed by people's obsession with the notion that I was obsessed with the ring. As long as you jokers keep the rings that great people like AJ and Seamus fought and bled for, reduced, you won't need to worry about me wanting to wear one of your flavor of the month rings on my finger.
Not that facts or anything would stop Cas from spouting off nonsense, as always, but I simply took pride in what I fought for and for the reputation I built up. Luckily, Cas, your pride in reputing yourself as a fool has not dwindled, either.
Just don't retire again after Rakeesh rejects you, twice. I almost felt bad scaring you out of the Arena after my last challenge against you, until you returned two weeks later. The new guy doesn't need that sort of potential heartache.
Oh lordy be I'm not sure I can resist watching a double BLOOD letting!!
But Cass ya better be darn sure ya wanna be messing with Shadoweaver. That opal just ain't right I'm here to tell ya!
The others ain't nearly so bad as that one there. It will warp your mind and then it attaches itself to your soul and it don't let go of ya!!
I'm saying ya just need to be awful sure that it is worth it to ya to be risking yourself in holding it. I guess maybe if ya don't wear it on your person all the time like the other that I'm thinking of did it wouldn't get such a terrible hold over ya.
I do hope that you win. I just want ya to be careful when you do.
:: The liontaur noticed the betting odds with slight suprise, considering his record and streak against Cassius in other recent challenges. He passed it off to not being a betting man and understanding the way Houses worked, then continued towards Dragon's Gate for watch-rounds ::
On the night of June 20, 2006, I witnessed both of the above forementioned challenges.
Both challengers agreed to alternate the matches, starting with DoS, the Dof, etc., so as to keep the crowd guessing, and excited.
After four grueling matches, Cass took home the Barony of New Haven, and Rakeesh kept his rock, ShadoWeaver.
Let's see Cass get the bounty, now, right?
Cassius Gaius Maximius, the challenger, dueled under a gleaming white banner, with an eagle bearing a fasces in its talons, and the letters S.P.Q.R. embroidered in gold beneath it. His second was Grayson MacLeod, and his Lady of Honor was Galicia "CeeCee" Rinaldi, in absentia.
The Baron of New Haven, lionataur Rakeesh Sah Tarna, dueled under the Blue and White Crest of the Adventurers' Guild. His second was his opal, ShadoWeaver, and his Lady of Honor was Aenlyn Hollow, also in absentia.
The swords matches started out fast and furious, and with the interlude of a fists match, ended with Cassius standing as victor for the Barony. He has declared himself Renegade.
Round One
Rakeesh/Cassius
1. f ss/hc
2. lc/th
3. f du/f lp
4. sh/f ss
5. lc/th
6. hc/ f ss
7. lc/f cp
8. f cp/dis
9. th/th
Round One Final: Cassius Maximius def. Rakeesh Sah Tarna, 5-3, in 10.
Round Two
Rakeesh/Cassius
1. f ss/hc
2. lc/f ss
3. f ss/lc
4. sh/ hc
5. hc/sl
6. f lp/f ss
7. th/th
Round Two Fnal: Cassius Maximius def. Rakeesh Sah Tarna, 5-3 in 7.
In the fists challenge, Rakeesh used ShadoWeaver much to his advantage, to the chagrin of the valiant Roman.
Round One
Rakeesh/Cassius
1. feint jab/ flip
2. f ab/sweep
3. f du/jab
4. sweep/ f do
5. feint jab/f ab
6. f leap/jab
7. spinkick/f ab
8. feint flip/f do
Final: Rakeesh Sah Tarna def. Cassius Maximius, 5-3 in 8.
Round Two
Rakeesh/Cassius
1. f do/jab
2. jk/f do
3. f ab/jab
4. sweep/flip
5. f ab/f do
6. feint jab/feint flip
7. flip/sweep
8. snapkick/snapkick
9. feint jab/feint flip
10. f leap/jk
11. ab/jab
12. sweep/f du
Final: Rakeesh Sah Tarna def. Cassius Maximius, 5-4 in 12.
Rakeesh keeps his rock, and life continues on.
