Never Enough Time. NJ #4

The Cowgirl was running out of time. She had a list a mile long of things left to do before this evening as not only was the long awaited Wedding of Tara and Talomar to happen tonight but she had to rush off and tend bar afterwards with a new bar tender she was supposed to show the ropes.

She and Charlotte had talked a little the other night so Des was looking forward to getting to know her much better. Also she wanted to speak with the woman about leaving Icer alone that is if the subject ever came up. She wouldn’t bring it up just in case the woman had already decided on her own to leave the sweet little dragon alone finally.

But first it had been days since she and her mortal enemy had last met and so she plopped down on the desk chair and glared then jerked the black book toward her and began.

Okay slime ball its me and you again.

It has been two days now since I’ve last seen my best friend Charna. Different people have been telling me different things. I don’t know what to believe now. I’m just positive she wouldn’t have left with that guy after she told me she thought he was creepy no matter what he offered.

After our girl talk I KNOW her mind was made up. I haven’t known her very long but the look in her eyes was sincere and I have been around long enough to be able to see when a woman’s mind is made up on something like this.

I recognize that look she had in her eyes when she spoke about that other guy every time I look in the mirror thanks to Jean. It is in my own eyes. Oh she’ll probably not admit it. Heck she didn’t come right out and admit it to me when we were talking.

Last night at the Inn was wonderful. Jean and I were having some real quality time away from the ship. We don’t get to do that too often you know. Between his ship and the crew and my running the Ranch and tending bar things are pretty hectic sometimes.

I was thinking about learning French. That man has a way with words that can melt a woman at fifty paces without even trying. But now I have decided that I don’t need to understand what he is saying when he says it. I’ll just keep smiling and nodding like I understand and pray he keeps talking. Well except when he’s kissing or nibbling or . . . You get the idea.

Anyway I got to introduce him to a couple of new people last night. Lucien was there who I haven’t seen in a coon’s age. At first I didn’t recognize him but he had called me by name and was acting like he knew me very well and that I should know him equally well. So what do I do? Brilliant me I blurted out to him as I stand there snuggled up with my Beloved, “Did I date you?”

Thank goodness, my TDMF male knows I love him heart and soul or he would probably be pulling his beautiful hair out by the roots and that would make me truly sad. I like to watch it blowing in the wind when he is standing on deck but most of all I like seeing it spread out across the pillows in the early morning sunlight. That is the best of all.

I hadn't dated Lucien at all. I had trained him to tend bar many years ago. It was so good to see him back in the Inn again. He was just like I remembered him. Tossing down drinks while catching up on all the latest. At least now if I need a good Lawyer I know where to find him again!

I’ve got to go. One less blank page. Well actually two if you count the one I ripped out of the back of you for my shopping list I’m taking with me today. It wasn’t cheating!! I didn’t have any other paper I could use!!!

Slams the journal shut and straightens her desk. Quickly donning her coat and gloves she gave a last glance around to make sure her room was tidy then darts out the door headed for the shops and that all important dress for the upcoming wedding tonight.
