Barony of Dockside

Post by DUEL Chris Graz »

From the Duel of Swords staff:

The Barony of Dockside has been left vacant for far longer than it should have. The Duel of Swords staff has been working to come to a solution on how best to fill the vacancy.

After much consideration, the Barony of Dockside will be filled via a King of the Ring tournament. This tournament will be similar to DoF’s MeagBrawl in that all duelers will enter the ring at the same time, and the last one standing will win Dockside. However, the one glaring difference between the tournaments is that weapons will be allowed. There are no rules once the duelers enter the ring, save that elimination will only occur if the dueler is tossed over the topmost ring rope. Once they hit the ground, they will be eliminated from the tournament.

The field will consist of ten participants. They will all be invited via special invitation which the entire community has an opportunity to win. Over the next four weeks of regular dueling, records and stats will be monitored and invitations will be sent out based on the following criteria:

(Invitations will be sent out in the following order):

- Four invitations- An invitation will be sent out to each of the top four Warlords on the Warlord Rankings list. (Please note that these invitations will include duels for the entire cycle and not just the next four weeks).
- One invitation- An invitation will be sent out to the person who has recorded the most wins during the four week period.
- Three invitations- An invitation will be sent to the three who have recorded the most overall duels during the four week period.
- One invitation- An invitation will be sent out to a dueler of the Senior Baron’s choosing.
- One invitation- An invitation will be sent out to a dueler of the Overlord’s choosing.

Please note that all duelers are eligible to compete to earn a spot in the tournament. Should a Baron or Overlord win an invitation to the tournament, they will have the special privilege of granting that invitation to any dueler of their choosing. They will not be allowed to compete themselves. Should a Warlord or lower receive an invitation, they may not grant that invitation to another dueler. If they decline to participate, the invitation will be sent to the next person on the list. There will be no subs for no shows on the night of the tournament.

The four weeks of dueling to earn an invitation will begin tonight, March 23rd, and will extend until Sunday, April 16th. Invitations will be sent out April 18th with an RSVP date of April 23rd. The date of the King of the Ring event is still to be determined. The Senior Baron and Overlord’s picks will be made on April 16th.

Good luck and good dueling,

The Duel of Swords staff

((OOC rules for the King of the Ring event will be posted at a later date. Please see the OOC thread for further explanation/questions))

((This link will be updated periodically as shift reports come in, so check back often. All of the first week of dueling should be up. 47 duels is awesome! Let's keep it up and catch Harris!

I'm sure Imp will appreciate being bothered incessently tonight. :) ))

Only 39 duels last week guys. We're slipping!

With a slow night last night, it'll be hard to top that number this week, but let's top the 50 mark next week!

Another slow week but that was to be expected. Since it'll be tough to top our current high, I'll throw this incentive out there.

If we can break 63 duels this coming week, I'll throw a second place prize into the KoR tournament.

After three hours of mayhem, the duo of G'nort and Kaja proved that it takes a dedicated team to win a fight like this. The couple outlasted seven others to square off against each other to determine the winner.

Just as things began to get as mushy as expected, G'nort got down on one knee and prepared to propose to the lovely Kaja. But the trick was on her, as instead of popping the question, he used the opportunity to flip her over the ropes!

A big shout out to G'nort for winning the King of the Ring tournament and claiming Dockside! He has elected to align himself renegade to the Overlord.
