Moving about the hospice performing one duty or that to help the sisters perform their multitude of tasks had helped to pass the time. But once again Roll had grown restless. Another month had passed since he had recieved the note from Sister Alia-Anor. Her abscese seemed to be troubling, but then again she was a very busy woman.

"Perhaps she merely is caught up in her work. It happens from time to time with priests and priestesses. Still, I believe I will ride to the Orphanage and look in on her."

Moving to the stables, he barked orders in quick succession. The stable lads jumping quickly to do as they were told. Within moments he was riding out of the gate, Mandarb's, or Blade as it was pronounced, hooves working at a ground eating pace, with the moon rising high in the cloudy sky.

The crunch of stones under his red boots happened to be the only sound in the street as Rollo walked from the stables to the front door of the Wayward Souls Orphanage.

From the outside, not a light could be seen; however it the orphanage was a rather large building. The fact that no light was visible did not mean no one was within the upper rooms of the building, nor in one of the more cenrtal rooms. A gauntletted hand tried the front door, but he wasn't surpised at that.

" Safety precaution, any form of homless or destitute would be looking for open doors at night. Find a warm bed."

Stepping back after looking up and down the street, he raised up one of his powerful hands and rapped on the door forcfully. The side of his fist smashing into the door again and again, knocking as loudly as he could. "Sister Alia-Anor!!"

He waited a few moments, in the hopes that maybe she were just awaking, before he began to knock again. This time much harder than before, as if he were trying to knock the door free from its hinges. "Alia-Anor!! Tis' me, Rollo!! Are you here!! "

So much trouble

Post by Alia Anor Graham »

The candles had burned down to waxen puddles upon the table. Their scent at first had been relaxing, pleasant, but the longer they'd burned, the more cloying it became, and then the darkness followed. The candles had filled the room with their specially chosen herbs, pulling all of the oxygen from the air, leaving naught to feed the lungs and the blood.

Somewhere in the background of recognition came a vague pounding, as though someone wanted something, but it was too much trouble to move, just so much trouble......

Pounding away at the front door seemed to be getting him nowhere. Letting out a high pitched whistle, Mandarb came rushing from the stables. Mounting into the animal's saddle, he moved around the Orphanage's perimietter, the high vantage point allowing him a slightly better view into the windows, but not much.

Moving along the side of the building, a faint glow caught his attention, but it was so slight. It very well could have just been just the glimmer of moonlight reflected off of a tray or somthing. However, he would take no chances. Rising up in the saddle, he started to rap at the window, a guantletted hand striking at the wooden fram so as not to break the glass.

"Sister Alia? Sister Alia Anor!" He knocked several times, his voice at a near shout.

Inviting Blackness

Post by Alia Anor Graham »

Blackness has textures. It has shades and flavors of blackness. This blackness has the same flavor as the scent from the candles...vaguely bitter sweet... like bitter almonds almost.

It came again, that banging, as though someone sought entry...... but it's dark, and it's late. And movement is so much trouble.....

The faint flicker from the candles was guttering low.

Sleep, a long sleep would be so inviting.

Something about that light kept nagging at him like the dull ache of a sore tooth. Pushing against the windopane, he tried to lift the entrance point up. But that was useless as the widow was locked as well.

Grunting in frustration, he spurred the horse around the back of the Orphanage. Racing through the stables he tipped over benches and opened up work cupboards, looking for any kind of tool to pry the windows open, or break the glass if needed. After tigging through the only tool chest in the whole stables he found what could only be called the equivalent to a crowbar, it was smaller than a normal one, but still made of sturdy iron.

Riding back to the window where he noticed the glow, he jammed the slender end of the tool under window and started to crank up and down trying to work the window up enough to break the lock.

The odor in the room was cloying but working effectively, and the ghost waited. Watching for that last breath to be breathed by the half elfen woman.

The intruder at the doors and window needed only to be held back for a few more minutes, and it would be over.

One of the two would no longer trouble her and impede her goals.

The ghostly form floated toward the window, she barred the lock in hope of delaying him just a bit longer.

Just a bit, and it would be done.

The window had just started to give when he felt it's momentum stop. In his mind he thought the wood might have warped from weather and other such things. Growling in frustration, he swung pulled the crowbar free and swung hard, the glass shattering inward. Clearing away any that was left over with his gauntletted hand, Rollo reached through the opening and searched for the lock.

The intruder took the iron bar and shattered the window as the ghost barred the lock. The scent of bitter almonds floated through the broken glass as the ghost wailed in fury seeking to block the fresh air from entering the room.

So close! She could not fail now!!!!

The Ghost's form came into contact with the gauntleted hand of Rollo. Ice crystals formed instantly upon the surface of the armored hand.

Feeling the crystals of ice forming on his hand Rollo paled visibly at the following wail, eyes widening. So there as a spirit at work in this. The crowbar in his other hand, he started to break the rest of the glass in the window. The scent of almonds seemed so strong, but something told him that smell did not belong in this place. The horse whineying and stamping it's hooved only added to this idea. The glass shattered, he started to hack at the wooden frame of the window, all he had to do was just weaken it enough to break through.

The glass was shattered as the intruder continued to work at the window, letting more and more of the poison from the candles escape the room.

The ghost began hurling shards of glass at the man seeking to gain entry into the room, and she expanded her essence to keep the fresh air from entering, diluting the poison. She was too close to success!

He was walking past the Orphanage looking for Alia anor when he heard the glass shatter he ran to the cause of the sound. He saw Rollo and the flying glass "What the hell is going on!" he yelled loudly as he rushed forward toward Rollo and the ghost throwing the glass.

Keeping his chin tucked down againts the breastplate of his armor, Rollo kept swinging at the window, listening to the wood frame crack and splinter. Blood oozed from several cuts in his scalp, and a trail of red trickled down from a small gash above his left eye. He was lucky the piece of glass had missed.

Hearing Dimitri the soldier let out a relieved breath, at least he would have some help. Thinking quickly he jammed the crowbar into the top of the window frame and slid from the horses back. Balancing there, the majority of his weight on the upper arm he shouted without looking up. "Break the other windows! Some kind of poison is in the room with Sister Alia Anor. This spirit cannot block them all."

He looks into the building he stands into a casting stance. "Alia anor is going to kill me. prolly" Three boulders come up and smash through the window after window letting in clean air. He runs forward towards the front door and a golem rises from the ground and slams two giant sized boulder fists into it shattering it.

Legend wailed an ear splitting screech. Ice began to cover over the first broken window, encasing the gauntletted hand of the man who'd broken it.

The sound of more breaking glass resulted in a wave of fury washing over the room as the ghost sought to seal up the new breaches.

The sound of splintering wood as the door crashed open send the ghost careening toward it with an unearthly howl as she attacked the elven soldier full force. A cascade of ice shards flying into his face as she covered his face and nose seeking to smother him before he could gain entry.
