He dueled like a novice, attempting to use patterns to catch me offguard. Once his patterns were made obvious, I adapted - he did not. As per the days when I used to frequent the regular fight-nights of Magic, I have once again soundly defeated Artemus. His successful defense against Vincent and myself prior this challenge were obviously jokes - as was his ever having control over a Tower to begin with, or his meager dueling skill.
As for the challenges to come - bring them on. If I fail, I fail; that is the way the game works, and who is to say what I want or desire in my future?

If Artemus had really stepped up his game, he would have risen to the rank of Mage in his nine month reign as Keeper of Earth. He had a lucky tournament, and two lucky challenges. Why does it have to be more than that? I've proven myself again and again in the Rings of Magic - Artemus has not.
This is all moot anyways - whether or not some racist wench calls my victory an upset, I have now gained my third Key, and am enjoying the knowledge I am gaining in the Tower quite nicely.

::chuckles:: Racist wench? No, not racist... It was an upset because everyone expected Art to kick your heiny for a second time, mage or not.
As far as being racist, last time I looked, I counted Vasvrae as a friend, and she's just a dark skinned as you are, my friend.
But still, congratulations on your key. Even if I don't like what it's done to the island, respect is due to the keepers.
Just be prepared for challengers. I expect you shall have quite a few.

::Reads all the posts and just shakes his head:: What is everyone's hangup with the mage rank? It's not all it's hyped up to be. Unless I've listened in on the wrong conversations among some of the mages and mage emertisus on the Isle.
As for why I didn't climb to mage in my long reign? I realize it is a foreign concept to you Vanion, but becoming a mage on the standings has never been at the top of my priority list.
The only reason you pitched a fit over it, not just because you wanted my key, but was because it forced you to choose between your spells and duel at a level you are very unaccustomed to. You said that a non-mage being keeper was a joke, then why were you the only one that protested my keepership? No one else had a problem with it, if they did, I know that I would not have been a keeper as long as I was. So you are alone in your beliefs where a non-mage being keeper is concerned.
And another thing, you are the only one making a big deal over the match, I know why I lost. It was not because of you being a better duelist, I know you are not. You won because I chose wrong in a 50/50 decision in the 13th round of the second match.
Now get off of your high horse because when you get down to it....you are no different than I am. Disappear, and in less than two months neither of us will be remembered for anything outside of having held a title or two. You are one of the most forgettable duelists around. Ask anyone...they will tell you so. For those like us, there is no lasting legacy that will not be torn down, burned to cinders, or destroyed once we are turned to dust.
Please, everyone just drop this subject and move on, Vanion will be out of power in no time flat and the Isle will return to it's former vibrant, beautiful self. Trust in that. Please everyone just stop, what's done is done. Nothing more can be done about it until the grace period is over.

You lost because you continued to use a stupid dueling pattern even after it became predictable. I exploited your predictability and went from falling from your elementary trick to dominating it. You can be as defensive as you want - you can call yourself a better duelist(which is a joke, in my opinion) - you are allowed to say whatever you want.
Never-the-less, I gained the rank of Mage in less than one cycle, have won three tournaments since then, finalized in two other tournaments, and have held control over three seperate Towers(Fire, Water, and Earth). All of this within the past yearish. You've dueled longer, and have yet to reach the rank of Mage.
Why is it a big deal? You claim it is not a priority and that is why you are not a Mage. I claim you have dueled more than any other magic duelist in the past year(even if you've stayed away lately). If you were a capable duelist, you would have reached Mage after all of this time - whether it is a priority or not.
This will be my last message on this ridiculous subject. I am now Keeper of Earth - if you wish to challenge, do so. Otherwise, admit your defeat and prove yourself worthy of respect as an opponent before trying to save face. Without proof of skill to back you up, it just makes you look like a sore loser.

::Chuckles seeing Vanion's latest message seeing that he thinks he has accomplished something by winning a couple 4 man tournaments. Nobody sees Face bragging about winning the latest tournament because he didnt feel it was much of one to begin with. Leaves a quick message:: I am still unimpressed. See you in the rings if I am the first to get challenge pressed.

How one wins is not necessarily the important thing. That one does win in what really matters in the end. With that in mind, I offer up my congratulations to Vanion for finally achieving his goal, even if it did take quite some time.
