As Baron of the Old Market District I feel I should make available my choice of vote in this matter to the public. I voted Kaja Adjair be stripped of her title and the title be made available as a prize in the soon to be Warlord tournament. I made this choice because I feel the title should be made available to someone who is currently more active in this sport than one who is obviously not. While the circumstances may change for the baroness in the future, the titled region should not suffer in the present for lack of a steward. Also, as an additional prize for the WLT I hope it may spark more participation in an event for the sport. Since Rakeesh has staded that he would challenge for this title until he gets it regardless of who holds it, then the ring will see some activity after the WLT anyway.

The Baroness is solely at fault. Therefor it is my opinion that punishing the challenger in any way has to be avoided. I did ask the challenger's preferences. A barony as prize in the warlord tournament would be nice and the timing for it appears near perfect, but this solution does not match the challenger's preferences. As tempting as that option may be, I cannot in good conscience vote for it.
I voted to strip the baroness of her title and all privileges with it, and appoint a champion to answer Rakeesh's challenge. Who better to be that champion than the current Overlord. Cletus got my vote to be the council's champion.

I don't see how the challenger would be punished at all. If the ring were to go to the tournement, he has as much chance of winning it as anyone. If he doesn't win it, he'll have the peer wins available to challenge immediately as the standings go up. If it's voted that it goes to a champion, he still has to fight for it in either a one shot or a best of three.
None of these are punishments.
A challenger punishment would be more "Baroness keeps the title and Warlord is stripped of peer wins" Which, of course, isn't ever likely to happen.
No, all in all, this will be handled properly, and everything will go fine.
I'd still like to be champion if that's the way the vote goes, for obvious reasons. And I won't comment on the fault.

Personally, I don't think the challenger's preferences or ideal options even need to be considered in a baron's council deliberation. The council is usually deliberating about the offending title holder and what to do about it, while non-title holders should just wait to see their fate in their potential chances of gaining title.
The Imp reads. After picking his jaw off the floor he flails.Cletus Ganderfald wrote:The Baron's council has elected to strip Baroness Kaja of her title and place the vacant ring in the upcoming Warlord's tournament.
Rakeesh will be returned his peer wins and right to challenge.
I thank the council for bringing a quick resolution to the matter.
Cletus Ganderfald
Overlord
"They can't strip my Kaja like that!!! This is an outrage! This is ... this is ... unspeakable!!!!"
He then goes off to write a nasty complaint letter to Cletus, the whole Baron Council, the DoS Coordinator, all the Officials -- himself included -- and ... basically just everybody. He realizes that's gonna be a lot of writing. Maybe it's better if he just writes one letter and makes copies. He's gonna say the same thing to everyone after all.
Blood is thicker than water. Adjust your recipes accordingly.

Rakeesh Sah Tarna nodded, receiving the missive that Tasslehofl Momus had won the Barony of the Old Temple District. With an ally in the seat of political power, the Guild could finally make a move. The liontaur finished his morning 'mate de coca', and tightened the wrappings on his leg.
A blink of the eye later, the Guildhall was empty again save for a slowly dissipating shadow still cast where Rakeesh had been a moment before.
