~*~Shadows Whispers~*~((Open SL))

~*~
She sat in the house that night, the flickering of the fire caught her eye as the shadows beckoned her to their will and she nodded. She knew that it was time and so she left word for Rak and her biddings be as she was gone, and she followed the call of the shadows to her homelands as she stepped through the silvery portal.
Emerging within the gardens to meet the twins, she explained that she was not well and that she needed to go on a journey to help find answers to her questions, and with the twins now in the Mystik way, she knew that they would be fine. On the next full moon the rites were performed that would give Setiva and Kolanas full power and authority over the entire kingdom and castle. She nodded with pride. They had overcome so much in their lives and there were so many other obstacles that they would have to overcome together, but with the bond that the twins had, it would easy for them. With the coming of dawn on the next morning, she entered Setiva's chambers and awoke her with her name and bid her farewell. It had been many moons since she could hold her children or even kiss them upon their heads, but they knew and understood what troubled her and so in turn she entered Kolanos' chambers and bid him farewell. She took what supplies she would need as she headed east towards the lands of Mystara, in search of answers...Answers that she knew might never come, but in order to move on, it had to be done...

~*~
She glanced about the lands around, sighing softly to herself, silver eyes misting over with tears. He was no where to be found. She had searched high and low, even extended her searches to the lands surrounding, but still nothing had come of her searches. She had visited his home, and there she found herself once again as she turned to finally return home...She knelt upon his doorstep, fingertips tracing over the outline of the door and sighed. Whispered words in the night and the tears that slipped from her eyes melded into one to leave the crystalline rose upon his doorstep, sure for him to see if he ever chose to return from where he had traveled. Deep within her heart she knew he would not return this time. Though perhaps returning home might answer some questions, but from the missive she had received earlier her heart was not convinced. Rising from her kneeling position, she pulled the hood about her head and swiftly turned about towards the silver glowing portal...Slow tentative steps drew her closer to the portal...Her cloak whispered it's own sad song against the dust of the lands. One last tear graced the lands of Mystara as she slipped through the portal to the Isle...A bright silver flash erupted and she was gone.

~*~
The warmth of the sands barely was noticed. The cold coursed through her body as she made her way through the silver of the portal, a deep breath drawn in as the twin moons settled their lights upon her return. A hawk's cry could be heard from the distance as she made her way towards the center of the Isle, an upward glance towards the night skies as she waved an elegant hand towards her old friend. She paused a moment to glance towards the Tower of Fire and the surrounding towers as she made her way. She could feel his presence but barely. It had been many moons since his last return, and her heart feared that he would never return. She made her way towards the ashes of the tree long since forgotten by many and paid her respects. Rak sat silently on a branch of a nearby tree, silver eyes intent upon her. She shook her head and sat next to one of the vacant rings. She could feel the Isle flowing through her, out of her, in her and becoming her once again. She was home...But what had she returned to? She could feel an odd presence on the Isle, an odd source of energy that troubled her. She shrugged it off for now, glad in more ways than one to be back home, yet her heart ached in more ways than one as well. She had lost everything in her life that mattered to her. Shaking her head she wondered if the fabled legends were true, and with each passing moon she believed in them, but it could not be possible. Perhaps he was not the one she had believed him to be...The shadows had warned her and she had not heeded their warning and so she was left broken once again. Shattered in pieces and so she began the journey once again to fit the pieces back together...She would find her hearts peace...One way or another, it was just a matter of time...

~*~A Brother's Love~*~

Post by Illusia »

~*~
Her dreams were not fitful on this night...The linens were not soaked with her sweat...She had not awakened screaming in the middle of night...It was as if someone had cast a spell upon her dreams...It was the first time in several years that she had slept so peacefully...
The smells around her were ever so calming, the noises soothing...She stretched languidly and sat up in the bed, fingers running through her tousled hair. Gentle fingertips rubbed at still sleep filled eyes as she let out a tiny yawn. Stretching, she opened her silver eyes and let out a small scream...Frantically glancing around, trying desperately to remember the night before...
~*~
She had entered the Arena, set on finding her brother after the conversation her and Anjolie had had the night before. She had to have answers...had to assure herself that this could not be the way of things. The fact that this was "his" Arena didn't even phase her as she called his name and demanded that he speak with her here and now.

"Johnathan Ecorian Havoick...," her voice rang out through the Arena.

Although her intentions were well planned, the outcome was not one in the same. They had words, words she thought would never escape hers to him or his to her...She was broken once again...What was left of the spirit within the woman was broken as her brother turned and walked away from her. She stood her ground, she had never backed down from anyone in her life and she would not begin to now...silver eyes followed him towards the door and out. She had matched him during the entire argument...Never faltered, never backed down, even when his words stung as if he had slapped her with his own hand. She knew him, well than most...She knew that he would never put his heart behind his heated words, but tonight she was unsure. He had changed, it seemed as if...as if the man she knew had disappeared...It was if she had lost her bestfriend...another person she cared for and loved gone...And so she slumped down into the chair, her head cradled in her hands to think about the words exchanged, glad that no one had paid much mind to their argument...glad that no one had come to comfort her...glad that no one had cared...glad that no one was looking to see the tears fall silently upon the table top as she hid her face within her hands...

She stepped from the ring to take a seat against the bar as the night wore on. She caught sight of him out of the corner of her eye and had pondered approaching him once again and decided against it. Why should she? It had seemed their bond had finally broken and could not be spared. So she continued to watch the duels for the evening...watching as they had come to a close. Watched as one by one the patrons left...watched as one by one the Arena was vacated and it was just her and Ecorian...There would be no one to witness their playful banter of brother and sister...Though an onlooker would think it would not be playful banter had they not known the siblings...Their engaging conversations, that put the past two rising moons talks to rest...That had set the woman's soul at ease...that had somewhat filled the emptiness that ate at her heart and soul...Nothing could come between the bond of brother and sister...and this night proved so...She leaned against him in the comfort of his arms within the quiet Arena...Calmness washed over her and she had forgotten what had been said as she relished in the security he gave her this night...

"That's it. Time for bed!"

The slight rise and fall of her chest was all that he saw when he got no response to his last sentence...She felt his arms wrap about her ever so careful not to disturb her or even touch the bare skin of her body...She could feel his gentle brown eyes gazing at her and felt the love in his voice as she let the slumber overtake her body...

"Tonight you will sleep in my Tower."

~*~Within the Tower of Water~*~

Post by Illusia »

~*~
One hallway seemed to lead to the next...She was lost and her powers were useless within the walls of the Tower. She was...helpless...and that's when she saw the movement from up above. Tilting her head to look through the ceiling above her, she saw the elemental make it's path...

"Johnathan?"

And as quickly as she spoke his name, the elemental disappeared and then reformed in her path, his form slowly taking shape. She shook her head with a stern look towards him. Emerald and silver eyes studied the man before her...yes time had definately changed the man that stood before her. He was not the same man she knew from years passed, though neither of them was the same person. Time and all the factors therein had changed them both, but the one constant for the two of them was eachother.

They talked within the Tower walls, and what he informed her of in her absence troubled her dearly. The Twilight Isle had been her home ever since she had left her own homelands. A place full of memories, dreams...love. Shaking her head she focused on his words once again, she would have plenty of time to think on years passed. What she knew now was that the Isle was in trouble, the Keepers as well and this troubled her. She had been away for quite some time, and she wondered if the Isle would accept her once again. She knew this to be a foolish question, but still the thought crossed her mind. Her home was threatened yet again and this time she knew not if she could help it, but she would have to try. They made plans to investigate this phenomenon further as he guided her through the Tower towards the exit...Questions running rampant through the both of them.

She nodded to Cory as side by side they exited the Tower of Water in search of answers...answers that perhaps would be as confusing as the questions they held...answers that they mayhaps wished not to know...

~*~Shadowed Encounters~*~

They began to make their way towards the Tower of Fire to speak with it's Keeper, only to find that they had traveled there for naught, as the Keeper was no where to be found. Figuring that he had business to tend to elswhere, they made their way back towards the center of the Isle...speaking briefly before parting ways for the day agreeing to meet later that night to discuss things further.

She spent the better part of her day upon the Isle, remembering her past and why she had returned so many times before...and realizing why she had returned this last time she turned with a smile to make her way to the Inn, where she had spent her first night back, to freshen up before the duels of the night. Time passed quickly as she stepped from the washroom and made her way towards the stairs leading to the Arena. Stepping through she made her way towards a table and seated herself there. She dueled very little this night, was there mainly for companionship and company. She spoke here and there with old friends and new...It would seem that she had never felt more welcome in her return than this time. It was odd to her as things had changed so much...Time had changed so many people and things...even her and the people she loved and cared about...Smiling, there were those constants, that no matter how time changed them...they remained the same.

After the duels had closed that night, she found herself again upon the soft Isle sands, in wonderment. She had witnessed seeing Johnathan's anger tonight, and it was something she cared not to see again. She had resorted to using a power that she never had wanted to be capable of to help and prevent things from escalating. Never would the woman admit that she was a bit frightened when she set her hand on Max's arm. She was scared because she didn't know what would happen...If he would even survive the pain that would course through his body...the cold. It lasted not even a second, just enough to send recognition through his body, throwing him back against the couch, and then she saw her opening and stepped between the two men. Silver eyes looked up into the deep brown ones of the man before her, she shook her head to him...

"Stop this madness Johnathan...There's more important matters ta tend ta this eve..."

"This just became number one on my priority list."

She shook her head again as she sighed softly...She knew that when his mind was set, there was little anybody else could do about it, but at least every now and again he would listen to her...and so she lowered her voice as she spoke.

"I've done some investigatin' o' m'own this eve as I told ye I would. I come ta discover tha' this unknown bein' 'as also in'abited tha Tower o' Earth as well as Fire...an tha' per'aps yer Tower an ye be in danger next."

Silver eyes pleaded with him to drop this matter and focus on his home. Her breath quickened as she waited for his response and when he turned from Max and moved towards the bar, she calmed as she cast a glance over her shoulder towards the man. He seemed to be doing fine, so she knew at least he would live, but would he have survived had the contact lasted much longer? Shaking her head, she chose to focus on the matter at hand and his wound. She frowned as she studied it carefully, shaking her head as she put her glove back on and began to tend to the wound until she was satisfied that it would heal overnight. They talked well until the duels had come to an end, and had even stepped in a ring to end the night. Towards the end of the night before they parted ways, she was curious...She checked the wound once more, only this time...she chose to touch him without the hinderance of her gloves...she studied him carefully as she watched his body tense and then accustom itself to her touch. She was baffled...no one could encounter contact with her skin without suffering immense amounts of pain...Why could he?

"You...you touched my skin Illusia."

"Aye. I do nae understand...I...yer s'posed ta be in pain...But yer...yer body accustomed itself ta it."

Shaking her head furiously...

"It does nae make ana sense...Only one man could withstand tha cold...Could it be tha'..."

She let the sentence die even as she thought it, his theory proving better to her at the moment.

"I am the previous holder of Icedancer and current Keeper of the Tower of Water. Perhaps that is why."

And now she found herself walking along the shoreline with Rak nearby watching over her as always and thought carefully over the nights events. The night had brought yet more questions that needed answering...more wonder and more thoughts. She knew one thing was for certain... she felt at home once again, it was if time was on her side this time, and not playing against her. She had many inner demons still yet to put to rest so that she could move on with her head held high...so that in time she could heal. Yes this time seemed right to her as she gazed out into the twilight...

~*~Troubled Night~*~

She cursed herself mentally for sending Rak ahead of her to the castle, to let twins know that she was on her way...Wincing as her body was thrown against the rough wall of the Inn in the darkened alley, a gloved hand covered her mouth, so her screams were not heard as the other closed around her neck, squeezing ever so tightly. She struggled against the body that held her captive...the voice chilling her to the very core of her soul...

"Don't move. Don't scream. Don't try anything or you'll be dead in a heartbeat lass."

All movement ceased as she thought to herself...this was ridiculous...impossible...He couldn't kill her...She could die by no mortal blade, by no mortal wound. Shaking her head furiously trying to get free from the tight hold he had on her, she managed to kick him in the shins and this seemed to infuriate him even more. One hand still clamped over her mouth as the other began to hit her...anywhere he could find an open spot he abused it. Tired, she stopped fighting until she could come up with something better...

"Now stop fighting or you'll not leave this alive. My orders were not to kill you Marcine, only to deliver a message."

His cold laughter filled the alley way as he continued to speak.

"Your friends cannot save you. Your magics cannot either, nor the blades you wield or the powers you hold. I own you now...I own you now Marcine."

What was this crazy man talking about. No one owned her. She was of her own free spirit. He had removed his hand for a second from her mouth, the other settled on her throat once again. She could feel the welts rising on her skin...managing to free an arm long enough to rip the medallion from his neck, gripping it in her palm with all that was left of her strength she cried out but it was rather shortlived as she felt the sting of the blade...it burned...worse than anything she had ever known in her entire life.

"Stupid woman. So strong willed and look where it has you now, crumpled at my feet, whimpering like a kicked dog. Pathetic."

He knelt next to her and finished his handy work, ripping her shirt and slid the dagger up an in an arch to form a crescent on her back.

"I own you."

Spitting on the crumpled woman he walked away.

She grew dizzy and faint as the pain worsened...Twisting from the blade...he slammed her into the wall again...that was all she had remembered before she had blacked out. She had never felt so mortal in her life. Emerald and silver eyes slowly opened, trying to sit up she grew dizzy and ill again and settled against the cool headboard of the bed...Bed?

"Whe..."

Her throat hurt where he had tried to choke her, her voice hoarse and scratchy.

"Where am I?"

"Mother...mother are you alright?"

~*~Dance with Water~*~

She had finally found enough courage to ask Johnathan for help. She was a proud strong woman, strong enough to withstand her past and still walk with her head held high on the sands. Much had happened in her life and she never had asked for help, but the attack on her the other night had scared her. They spoke on the sands while he was on duty of the attack. Shaking her head, she wondered where she could go that was safe...Her home that she had built within the heart of the forest was no longer safe either. She had sent Rak ahead of her while she waited within the castle walls of his report, troubled to find his sightings of shadowed figures moving in and about the Marcine Home, she frowned. She knew that she could not return to her house, nor the Inn and the Isle while she provided comfort and solace, had much open space to her and plenty of distance for another attack...and so she entered the Tower of Water where she would take up residence for now until further word was sent of the means of the attack.

She moved carefully through the Tower heeding Johnathan's words on the Isle. Smiling to herself. Did he think her that adolescent...Shaking her head she followed the elemental to her chambers. Bidding the elemental goodnight, she undressed carefully as not to warrant any unneccessary pain from her wound, she washed the dust from her body within the washroom and dressed again, as she sought slumber within the confines of the Tower...the flow of water soon lulled her to sleep as it had not that long ago...

~*~Late Night~*~

Post by Illusia »

((As written by TimEnralyte and IllusiaMarcine))

~*~
It had been a few days since she had taken up residence within the Tower of Water...a few days since she had almost lost her life in the darkened alley next to the Inn. Shuddering with the memory of the night, she found herself wandering from the Tower out onto the sands.

Her cloak whispered softly against the soft warmth of the sands...the quiet wind caressed her skin, she smiled to herself as she looked around the deserted Isle. She had always found solace and comfort within her arms...had always a reason to return to her...and more than a reason did she have this time. She moved closer towards the center of the Isle as she heard a familiar cry of a different hawk pierce the stillness of the night. Emerald and silver eyes took to the twilight skies, a smile on her face as she saw the two hawks circling one another in playful banter, she extended her arm towards Silas. The hawk circled the woman overhead for a few more turnings and then swooped down to set on her arm.

"M'ow ye've grown since I last saw ye."

"Evenin Illusia."

She was deep in thought of the million and one things she had to say to him when his voice started her from her thoughts.

"G'eve Tim, tis been quite some time since I've seen ye. We did nae 'ave much time ta talk tha other eve afore duties stole ye away. Pray tell tha' times 'ave been kind ta ye?"

He extended an arm towards Silas as the hawk returned to him and he nodded towards her.

"As kind as can be expected. And yourself?"

"As well as one could expect from one such as m' m'lord, then 'gain ye knew tha' as well. Wha' brin's ye 'bout tha Isle so late?"

He inclined his head towards her. He knew well enough of who she had become and what she had went through. They were never quite close friends, but never the less they were friends.

"I came to check on Silas. To see if he needed much of anything before I took my leave. I've business to attend to in lands west of here for a few days."

Her muscles were stiff from the abuse of the other night. Though going to the Outback did not help her either, but she was one that would never back down. She stretched carefully and nodded towards him.

"Iffin ye wishes, I can care fer Silas whilst yer away. I'm sure Johnathan twill nae mind much."

The thought had crossed his mind as they stood their and talked and he nodded with a smile.

"I'd be honored if you would."

He had noticed the bruises on her body, the way she had winced when she stretched. Concerned filled him as he eyed his friend.

"What's the matter Illusia?"

The question caught her off guard as she was wandering in her minds path.

"Eh? Thin's o' course m'lord."

"Still worried about the attack the other night?"

"Aye."

"Have you learned nothing Illusia? We care about you. Everyone here. Everyone that knows you. You are bonded to the Isle and to us, we will let nothing happen to you if we can help it. I assure you if this attacker were to try and attack you on these very sands that ill will would befall him. Plus, no one can enter the Tower of Water either, so you're safe there."

Sighs softly and nods to him at a loss for words.

"Aye."

He really didn't want to touch on much more with her. Illusia was not a woman to be pushed around or forced to talk about things she did not wish of, but he had to know. Something had changed in her. She was very different tonight. Her aura was light and happy, the energy dancing around her was radiant, and her eyes...her eyes actually sparkled with light and laughter...and love again.

"And in the matters of your heart Illusia. Have you found the peace in which you sought in your journeys?"

This question caught her off guard as well, since her mind had wandered off a bit, she nearly lost her footing on the sands as she smiled to him.

"Aye, I guess ye could say somethin' ta tha' sort m'lord. I searched lands far an wide fer answers tha' layed wit'in tha depths o' m'own soul an oddly enough, tha 'eart o' tha Isle 'erself. I 'ad ta let go...let go an move on an remember tha 'appiness tha' I once was on these sands. Tha dreams an love she 'olds. I 'ad ta remember a love long 'eld wit'in m'."

He nodded with a smile to the woman. She had changed, and it was good to see the light and laughter in her eyes. Though not all had changed totally, there was significant difference in her mannerisms as of late and for that he was greatful.

"Well then Illusia, I bid you goodnight. I still have many things to pack for my journeys and it would seem the Tower beckons you back to it's arms."

Motioning towards the lagoon with a smile.

She nodded to him and bid them all a goodnight as she moved back towards the lagoon and into the safehaven of the Tower walls.

Long was that last nap, he had almost begun to think himself slipping into the eternal sleep. But the presence in the Tower of Water woke him, old friends seemed to be stirring and so he too stirred. An old guardian, neither truly of the Isle or apart from it. He was just that...old. Long black hair shifted around his head as he stood up from the beach chair. Turning on a bare left heel he made his way towards the center of the Isle, emerald eyes dancing with a mirth unhidden. Two long strides and green flames engulfed his gray robe clad body.

----

The flames reappeared near the base of the Tower, swirling upwards into the shape of a human, his 'eyes' opened to reveal twin points of the brightest white. The creature stood there for but a moment before skin and clothing erupted from its center, coiling around the flames to form the body of the mage once more. His eyes were the last thing to chage, and with a soft glow shifted from white to dark green. He decided to keep with his old fashioned ways and lift his right hand, rapping his knuckles against the Tower's main door. "Open up...I bring cookies!"
Come on, taste the emerald flames
