Dear Karma,

I suppose someone finally figured out that I have mostly been an absentee landlord in New Haven, aside from crashing that car when I first got here and crashing on the couch in the living room. In my defense, I will say that I have not raised up an army or otherwise militarized the district during my tenure here, so...benign neglect, at least?

I would really prefer not to abandon my home away from home, though, since it would likely mean a shift in my schedule to work more at the Black Magic Burger in Old Temple, so consider this my formal acceptance of your challenge.

With all that being said...how about a wager? If you beat me in this challenge, not only will you get the Baronial ring, but Black Magic Burger will make a burger in your namesake. Does that sound fair?

That lowkey shade, I love it. This is why I like you. Please know that your presence (lack thereof or otherwise) is not why I'm challenging. Rather I can get some coin from overturning a Loyal and my first choice is already under challenge. Nothing personal, just numbers and silver.

I don't have anything so cool as burgers to name for you, but if you win, I'll paint you a picture of a subject of your choice. That's about all I can offer in trade.

At the risk of being overly long-winded, possibly pedantic, and repeating things I have said before, titles are meant for defending. I have gone quite some time without a defense, ergo, I am more than overdo for one. I honestly was not aware that all that bounty money being thrown around was still a thing; blame me being busy with work, or with my general tendency to tune out the ramblings of the rich and powerful in this city.

I duel to test my mettle, to sharpen my skills, and, on occasion, to right egregious injustices within the dueling community. The stipend I receive from Real RhyDin is just an added bonus. My early comments referred primarily to a previous holder of New Haven, but I am not going to gaslight you and say that Old Market did not factor into those thoughts as well. I do believe that the past is the past, though, and that we have some sort of friendship, if only because we both strive for the highest levels in these rings (and have done so against each other in the past).

Regardless, I look forward to facing you in the ring on Friday.

Battle For the Burger

Black Magic Burger Menu

Along with the Arena's usual Wolves Den Bistro menu items, Black Magic Burger will be present, shamelessly rooting on their employee Bailey Raptis as he attempts to defend the Barony of New Haven. They will be offering a limited menu of burgers and drinks, inspired by Bailey and his Real RhyDin teammates. These will include:

• The Bailey Raptis (69th Archmage Burger): Jamaican jerk seasoned ground beef patty, Monterey Jack cheese, mango and sweet pepper salsa.
• The Hope Naharis (120th Overlord Burger): Beef patty or I Can't Believe It's Not Burger vegetarian patty, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, southwest ranch. Comes with a paper crown on top.
• The Michelle Montoya (102nd Diamond Burger): Basil balsamic steeped portabella mushroom, Tamari almond goat cheese, grainy mustard mayo.

The bar will also be serving up Real RhyDin 'Ritas: Patrón Silver, Cointreau, pineapple juice, lime juice, Tajín rim, lime wedge garnish, on the rocks.

Tonight, Karma Armstrong met Bailey Raptis to find out which of the two would come away as the Baron of New Haven!

The Baron chose a single duel format for the challenge, and after the challenger came out to a quick 2-0 lead, the Baron answered with five straight points, coming away with a defense in a 5-2 victory after 8 rounds!

Well tried, Karma! And well defended, Bailey!

"Okay! We all didn't come here for nothing!" She motioned to Karma. "Our challenger fights under the colors of purple and black! She is seconded by Baron Caleb Feren! She lists her people of honor as Caleb, Raspberry, and Beau! Let's all hear it for Karma Armstrong!" She clapped as all the cameras focused on Karma, broadcasting her wide and far!

Waiting for the applause to finish, Cajsa then motioned to Bailey. "Our current Baron of New Haven fights under the banner of the white and gold Real Rhydin logo! The Baron's second is the current Squire of New Haven, Tali Zhdanova! The Baron lists his people of honor as the team members of Real RhyDin! Let's hear it for Bailey Raptis! Motioning to Bailey as all the cameras now focus on him.
