So like I said, you clearly don't have the sack to be top dog of anything. Since you think you're so much better than me, why don't you go ahead and banish me and show up in the ring with steel in your trembling hand? If you're good enough you can even save yourself a sack of gold.

Last night happened because you were looking for an excuse, Jonn. I let you escape an insult and an attack on my property with only a curse, so you decided to insist that I call your match so you would have the opportunity to slash my throat when I came at you unarmed to speak to you about the goddamn sports press.

You put a knife in my neck, and I should have been dead by the time my friends dragged me to the wards — yet here I am. What will you try next, Jonn?

I offer no bounty on the marauder’s title, but for a piece of him: a thousand nobles each for an ear, an eye, or a full hand, and a hundred nobles for a finger. The bounty will be paid upon verification of his maiming. This offer has no expiration.

I will say that I understand some of you may have exercised poor judgment in believing this man or holding his words equal to mine or anyone else’s. Consider this understanding a warning not to stop this or any of the other forms of revenge that he is due from me and others.

The reply was a district map of the city of RhyDin, with markers for Jonn’s location and times listed next to them every couple of hours, starting from two o’clock this afternoon. Someone had been blood-scrying.

A note was left on the corkboard, penned in Michelle’s writing but the security cameras would show it was Mel, her co-worker from Bak’d, who had posted the message.

Patrons of the Arena,

I write this note based on the information others have told me, for I do not remember much of Thursday nights challenge. Despite whatever has occurred, I do not condone violence on either side. Although Baroness Mallory Maeda and Overlord Matt Simon are within their rights to offer bounties it is not something I condone, and I will offer no bounties of my own.

However, I do support the Overlord in relegating Jonn Revelator to Renegade. I call upon all warlords and barons who believe in the integrity of the duels to sustain the Overlord in his decision.

Some may consider my values to be old-fashioned, but I believe that honour and integrity are never out of style and I make my stand on those grounds.

I am actually impressed by the initiative and the aggression. The vocabulary? Not so much. And really, at the end of the day, even the initiative and the aggression is the same old saga I've heard and sung a thousand times before.
