This challenge happened tonight and it was very exciting!
Our challenger Gatito was looking for his first dance with Moonberyl, while Matt was hoping to pick up a second defense of the yellow rock with whom he's had a long history!
The first match was in the Boiler, and both fighters suffered burns as they rattled around among the pipes. Gatito was first on the board, but it stayed close, back-and-forth until Matt found his first lead of the match in the sixth round, coming at Gatito with a low strike. He followed it up with a punch that traded his way to match point! But Gatito stayed in the fight, tying things up with a low sweep of his own. After two sudden death rounds, Gatito found the win with a high leap!
FINAL: Partly Cloudy def. Goldglo, 6 - 5 in 10 rounds.
The second match started exactly like the first, with Gatito jumping out to a quick lead, only to see Matt tie things right back up! This was another close fight with four tie rounds including sudden death! Gatito was the first to match point here, but Matt managed to tie it up keeping his hopes of a defense alive for one more round. But Gatito's steady battery of blows eventually wore the older man down and he took the win!
FINAL: Partly Cloudy def. Goldglo, 5 - 4 in 9 rounds.
An incredible performance by Matt, gutting it out each fight and keeping it close. But it's Gatito who comes away with the win and gets to call Moonberyl his!
