December/January Settings: Winter Wonderland, Snowshoeing, Mysterious Lights

Post by Keeper of Stories »

As the temperature drops and the snow begins to fall, celebrations from all over the multiverse convene into a season of hope, light, and friendship.

Winter Wonderland: At the heart of Old Temple, a festival transforms one of the district’s busiest plazas into a glittering winter attraction. Every year at the start of the holiday season, the surrounding temples and cathedrals are adorned with thousands of coloured lights, and the large fountain at the center of the plaza gives way to the Hakodate Snow Palace, a Japanese-style castle surrounded by a frozen moat. ((See the full description here))

The Wilds: The trees have dressed in gowns of sparkling white, the river is frozen over, and Little Kaiju is now solid enough for ice skating with the winter spirits! Snowshoe trails wander amiably through the mysterious forest. However, it gets dark early, and the cautious traveller knows there is more to fear than the cold once the sun goes down.

The Streets: The Streets of RhyDin have been decorated with twinkling lights and colourful banners. Candles in windows invite you to celebrate the season, but beware! Lights have mysteriously appeared in abandoned places, drawing in the bold and the unwary; and you never know who - or what - might be drawn to the fireside out of a cold winter night.

Enjoy these seasonal settings! Feel free to use these settings as story prompts or inspiration during live play. Share your stories here or in any of our public forums such as The Streets of Rhy’din or Beyond the Gates.
