Redemption Charity Gala

Post by JewellRavenlock »

Date: Saturday, February 22nd
Time: 8:00pm RST
Location: Redemption Riverboat Casino ((#streets-of-rhydin))

The Duel of Fists cordially invites the citizens of RhyDin to a charity gala aboard Redemption riverboat casino to benefit the Diamond Foundation, established after the events of Diamond Quest 100 by Diamonds Jaycy Ashleana and Jewell Ravenlock to support those affected by or harmed at the latest Diamond Quest and by the shattered Opals as well as to contribute to the renovation of the Outback.

The entrance fee, a percentage of all winnings earned by gambling at the casino, and bets made on the night’s entertainment (a series of showcase fights) will all be donated to the Diamond Foundation.

The event is being ticketed as a black and blue-tie affair with an entrance fee of 100 silver.

Setting Description

Redemption is leaving Dockside promptly at 8pm. For those unable to make the launch of the riverboat casino though, there are plenty of smaller boats ferrying gamblers back and forth throughout the evening.

There are several floors of gambling tables and slot machines as well as bar and lounge areas for those inclined to other vices. And for those who overindulge or who wish to escape for a few more hours, there are well-appointed rooms for guests.

The ballroom theater is being repurposed for a portion of the evening to host three showcase fights for people to bet on. Grab a seat, order some food and drinks, and watch the display.

There are a few speciality drinks for the evening including a Sin-ful Delight, Bruising Good Time, and one for each shattered Opal.

MoonBeryl

FireStar

IceDancer

PathFinder

ShadoWeaver

And a buffet for guests to enjoy:

((This is a black-tie affair (the black and blue theme is a nod to the bruises people get in Duel of Fists) that will be both a live event and a board event. No forum coins need be transferred to have your character participate.

For the original description and launch of Redemption, please see THIS THREAD! The setting is a creation of the player of Sinjin Fai who has graciously allowed us to use it for this event.))

Gambling
The gambling tables and slot machines are open! Try your luck at poker, black jack, roulette, and craps!

((If you want to play free gambling games online and then act it out in RP, there’s a free slot game here while Casino World and Casino have options to play games like poker, blackjack, and roulette for free.))

Dancing
In addition to the gambling, the dance floor is also open with slow, sensual music dominating the evening.

Critter Racing

NAME THAT CRITTER
Despite the universal dismay when the showcase fights for the charity gala were cancelled, something even better was scheduled in its place: CRITTER RACING!

Constructed just for this night, Redemption has the first Critter Race Track in RhyDin! Critter racing is all the rage on Siygon 7 and we’re bringing it to RhyDin City exclusively for this charity event.

Even more exciting? We need you to name the critters! For 50 silver, you can name a critter to be entered in the race. Once you’ve named your critter, be sure to show up on Saturday night to bet your money on it and cheer it on during the race!

All money raised for critter naming and racing will be donated to the Diamond Foundation.

(1) Cutter by Fayena and (2)Wickett Wagglebutt Eregor

(3) Nope Haharis by Real RhyDin

(4) Sweet Barry Mander the First by Dris

(5) Skiddles by Jaycy

(6) Longskelly Hopscuddle Blight by Tippletoe

(7) Feathernob by Yeardley

(8) Sharkbait by Temp

(9) Little Caney-Pooh by Canaan (and Jewell)

(10) Suzy by Allen & Nadella Montoya

(11) Lunch by Anonymous

(12) Chikorita by Reiko Souma

(13) The Viscount by Mallory Maeda.

(14) Sir Giles Hootenanny by Ebon

(15) Moomin by Fae

((To name a critter, DM Jewell on the forums or discord with the number, desired name, and the character who “bought” the name. You do not need to transfer any coins! These are on a first come, first serve basis. I will update the thread as quickly as possible as names are chosen.))

With rumors of her demise greatly exaggerated much to the chagrin of the denizens of Old Market, Strawberry was in attendance. With the opals "shattered" she felt her gown was suiting and flaunted it the night through while sampling each of the night's cocktails and betting on the exhibition matches of the night.

The Empress was playing hostess at this particular gala. She was at her most charming: making small talk; sharing a drink, a dance, or both; enticing people to bet more with her glamour touched smile; and smoothing over any snafus that arose throughout the night.

Michelle picked out a black dress that Jewell approved of. When she attended, anyone with a sight for the magical could tell there was a little glamour of disguise covering Michelle's arms and wrists. Under the cover of shadow-magic, Michelle hid her scars, both old and recent.

Critter Racing at Tonight's Charity Gala!

Pick your favorite critter and place your bet! Who will win the race? Will it be Wickett Wagglebutt, Nope Haharis, The Viscount, or one of the others!?

Once the event begins and your bets are placed, watch your critter race the others around the track. The first to cross the finish line takes the pot!

((Everyone can place a bet on their favorite critter via DM to Jewell on Discord before the race starts. Once the race begins, the announcer will use this number generator four times throughout the race. The order the numbers turn up in is the order the creatures are in. The last roll determines the winner!))

Dris cleaned himself up to make an appearance as promised (though possibly fashionably late). Last minute shopping with Pharlen resulted in a pair of shoes to compliment her own. Leather Chucks with a speckled midsole and elasticized laces. A little fun mixed into the formal.

Did somebody say, "redemption?" After seeing the variety of cute critters that were to be entered in a race and those that weren't yet named, Reiko's exotically-coloured eyes came across one that reminded her of a certain type of anime creature. Naturally, she had to give it the name of Chikorita...now what to wear? She had a few black and blue-themed evening gowns to choose from. This was the one she chose.

It had been too long since the last time the witch had gone all in on a formal butch look - though she was disappointed by the lack of real pockets in her blazer. “Tch, should have gone with a men’s cut...”

Despite everything else... Of course Pharlen and Jack VonTombs appeared, elegant and gracious as ever. Manners forbore that Pharlen use the opportunity of the party to bring some well deserved harm or at least scoldings to anyone that deserved them, so, expect a lot of glamorous smiling and dancing.

And she and Dris did some last moment shoe shopping. His are star spangled black leather! :3

Conner cleaned himself up for the night's events, putting on a suit and tying his unruly hair back. He had some critters to bet on---hey there Feathernob---and was looking to have a good time... despite the dramatics going on in the city.
