25 Years of Magic Finale - The Magic Masquerade

2020 draws to a close and with it, so too does our 25 Years of Magic celebration. We end the year with a celebration of all we have accomplished this year and the twenty-four before and on this night we will dance, and duel, and drink until the night is through.

Starting at 8 by the Eastern clock’s bell, the Isle will be transformed into a masquerade ball under a canopy of stars featuring a full multi-course dinner menu, table service, and an extensive drink menu, all set amidst special dueling rings where duelists can once more duel like an Archmage for the evening. Before leaving, be sure to grab your gift basket for an assortment of goodies! Though by no means the end of the night, the Isle will also host a celebratory fireworks display at 11 PM (ET)

More info to follow but Duel Like An Archmage is back, allowing duelists to use both Immolation and Nether Ray in their duels. If you are not familiar with using these spells in a duel, be sure to use the following command to the Nexus Bot to ensure they go through, as they are normally restricted use.

Ex: ?m NR 3 or ?m IM 3 (The 3 allows use of it!)

Please note, neither Nether Ray nor Immolation can be focused.

Thank you SO much to everyone who has come out to celebrate this year. Having spent much of my time here involved in Duel of Magic in some way or another, this sport, setting, and community are all very near and dear to my heart. While I may no longer be a staff member, DoM will always be my baby. Thank you to Max and Royal who are amazing stewards of the Isle and the sport. The Rings:

Echo of the Vortex: The ground of this ring appears to be made of a stiff breeze and wispy clouds that open up to an endless void below. You can’t see precisely where you step but the differing sections offer multiple levels for multi-tiered dueling. Gusts of wind allow combatants to hop from cloud to cloud and makes it feel like one can fly. The dry, heated winds of the west berate the ring and make it hard to catch your breath.

Echo of the Crag: Mountainous spears of rock pierce the grounds of the ring, fusing and smashing against one another to create a mid-level playing field with pillars of earth climbing to higher platforms. These platforms tilt and tumble, crashing down on the ring with the slightest provocation. Beneath that is a labyrinthine maze made of precarious footing and with a penchant for unexpected rock slides.

Echo of the Deep: A tidal surge rises around the walls of this ring, creating a solid pillar of oceanic water. Like Poseidon, wild coral reef and pearly white sand gurgles and crashes upwards to form a solid ground level for the ring. Fish and other aquatic beasties swim throughout the ring, oblivious to the magic flying around them. Both combatants in the ring will find themselves miraculously able to breathe beneath the water’s surface. Towels will be on hand for spell slingers once they finish.

Echo of the Inferno: Blackened, craggy levels make up the uneven ground of this ring. Self-contained fires crop up throughout and also create a barrier around the edge of the ring once both combatants are within. Small rivers of magma circle around the ring and smoldering, jagged rocks create a natural cover and an added dynamic as both spellcasters attack and defend.

Who was the musician to not attend such a momentous occasion? She had taken her time to pick just the right outfit and of course had sweet talked her cowboy into accompanying her to the Masquerade but they had promised to not tell each other what the other was wearing in the spirit of the event. What was a masquerade if one told who they were behind the mask. She stood in wait just beyond the portal to the Isle, a pretty smile on her face as she watched everyone come and go. Much like Cinderella at the ball, she planned on dancing with her prince until her feet couldn't dance any longer.
