EXAMINER'S NOTES: 04 JUNE 1976

SUBJECT DESIGNATION: MOBIUS

The subject doesn't seem to have a physical form other than that of a gaseous cloud, as far as our scans have been able to determine, but the creatures it possesses all share similar physical traits that, before possession, they would not have.

Each host's eyes will, unless willfully concealed, show black, with distinctively iris-shaped whorls of dark blue.

Upon possession, each host body will look more youthful and alive than it would have prior to possession. The subject retains all memories of the host and will, if in an environment proves conducive to it, assume the host's identity.

Each host body will tends to degrade over time; most often this stage takes between one and two months to reach. The host's nails will become thicker and claw-like. Its face and features will start to become thinner, angular and pointed. Its skin will pale, and in later stages begin to peel off. It is around this point that the subject will express the need to find a new host.

Should the subject successfully find a new host, the previous host will return to "normal" with several weeks of bed rest. They will be utterly ignorant to the actions that they have taken during their possession, unless the subject has for some reason forced the host to remain conscious of their actions throughout the ordeal.

If a host is possessed for much longer, the following changes are indeed possible:
-Aberrant formation of dermal plating
-Unnaturally-occurring carbon fiber distribution throughout host's skeletal system
-Aberrant formation of cutaneous horns
-Formation and eruption of penetrative or serrated teeth, replacing the host's
-Development of various aberrant physical structures
-A pronounced spike in the host's need for protein intake

WARNING:
Causing the subject undue levels of stress may extraordinarily reduce the amount of time it takes to achieve this level of adaptation. Avoid whenever the subject is within a host. Remember, these are people we can recover.

If a host is allowed to reach this stage of adaptation before the subject finds a new host, it will retain some knowledge of who it was and the basic abilities to verbalize and communicate simple terms and phrases, but the changes to its physiology will drive it away from human or same-species contact. It will attempt to seek out shelter in dark, cool and damp places. Sewers are among the first places they stop. It will feed on any meat within a certain range of its newfound "nest" and will, if other previous hosts are present in the environment, form social groupings which appear to hunt and nest together.

Previous hosts either cannot or simply will not attempt to propagate with one another, or with members of their original species for that matter. In fact, when presented with an unaltered member of their original species, the host will almost invariably kill and/or feed upon it.

It is believed that containing the subject within a host beyond this stage is ill-advised and should not be attempted.
Skills:
The subject seems to possess the ability to absorb the skills and knowledge of its hosts, but seems reluctant to do more than synchronize memories and mannerisms for the purposes of social camouflaging.

It has proven to be proficient with the use or improvisation of melee weaponry.

It is skilled in the use of varied small arms. Larger assault and explosive weaponry have not been tested or presented to the subject.

Supernatural abilities are unsatisfactorily documented.
