Evolution had ensured that the eye was highly equipped to detect bilateral facial symmetry thus implying that said symmetry must be important and human nature continues to have a hard-wired desire to be attractive. Beauty was, in fact, not simply in the eye of the beholder. People within and across cultures agree on who is attractive and who isn’t, infants will gaze at the face of those adults deem attractive longer than others and it is a proven fact that the more attractive, the more perfect, a person is the greater success they will enjoy. Attractiveness and the ability to accurately detect it are keys to evolutionary survival.

But what happens when your golden ratio is only gold plated and you were never the mathematician your parents hoped you would be?

In the right hands, in Dr. Jeremiah Vedryn’s hands, any patient with the resources and the thresholds can achieve the perfection they desire. The miracles of modern medicine, the miracle of the good doctor’s hands and vision, can transform the average into the perfect. A slice of the scalpel and millimeters of asymmetry can be erased; a cut, nip, fold or tuck and problem areas become praiseworthy and cosmetic enhancement can only enhance the true you…the you yearning to be free.

Not that pursuing perfection did not have its drawbacks. What did one do when they worked with the unattractive all day, when they were elbows deep in the disfigured, deformed, and misshapen? In the plastic and the vapid? How did they find an outlet, a release, for their own vanity? Why…they sought perfection sans surgical superiority. They…hunted…it. They…collected…it so that they might…cherish…it for all time.
