Life really picks up for you when you're dead.

All 5'3" of Mal is a reaper - if you die through some external influence, it's Mal or one of her colleagues who'll pop your soul out first so you don't feel the pain. Her old name is gone, but not forgotten; so is her old face. At least here on Rhy'Din, she won't have to go through the rigmarole of changing her name and face again in a few decades. No one looks twice at a seeming immortal around here.

Still, she doesn't share her main function in unlife with just anyone. As far as the casual observer is concerned? She's a cheerful mess who plays the drums and somehow manages to keep her head above water.
