Alec has short, fine blond hair and hazel eyes that hold quite a serene quality to them. At 6-foot-3, he is neither short of stature nor extraordinarily tall. Should you get a look at his physique, he is what one might describe as "wiry," with well-defined muscles that are nothing close to herculean... a body built for speed and agility, rather than brute force.

Alec is almost always seen wearing a white button-down shirt, black trousers, and black boots. When he first found himself traveling Rhydin, he would never be seen without a pair of tight black leather gloves on... but thanks to his time with the BCU, he has since shed his need to protect himself from physical contact to his hands, the seat of his touch-telepathy.

Over all of that, Alec wears a black trenchcoat that sports a lining made of SmartArmor™ plates which help protect his body from ballistic projectiles (bullets, arrows, certain spells), while providing a measure of protection against slower, non-ballistic impact attacks (blades, fists, two-by-fours).

Underneath his coat, he also carries a holstered pair of SigSauer P229s, each with a full clip of 9mm hollowpoint rounds plus one in each chamber, for a total of 13 shots in each pistol. There are also a pair of Ippon sliverblades (ren-pa) sheathed at the small of his back. They are thin 12-inch blades with no quillion (cross-guard), made of Ippon crysteel, and well designed for slashing, piercing, and throwing.

Alec used to go by his familial name from Earth, which was Tuttle. After a long while spent exiled to Rhy'Din and having gotten to know his Ippon relatives better, he now adopts the last name of his Ippon family, Taprobane. (tah-PRO-bah-nee)

It is said that the true challenge of Creation lies not in the engineering, but rather in the ability to control one's project. The tau-jin understood this axiom well. First, combine the elements that comprise the whole, allowing reactions to occur. Observe the reactions to identify the cancerous elements; that which performs contrary to the intended purpose.

Once identified, the cancers can be isolated. Cast out. Eliminated. Thus can the creation grow and thrive towards its intended purpose.

Control is not a simple thing. It requires patience. Discipline. And sometimes... intervention. For only when control is firmly and finally established can one hold the title of Tau-jin.

Alec prefers to fight unarmed, employing the fluid and efficient martial arts of a tau-jin warrior. But just because he prefers to fight empty handed, doesn't mean that he is a slouch in the art of armed combat. He is highly skilled in the use of many different styles of blades, such as the Ippon lar-pa and sen-pa, as well the smaller sliverblades that he always carries inside his overcoat.

He has a particular affinity for the use of blunt weapons, such as a pair of lacquered black batons that he owns. You can add the ubiquitous quarterstaff to the list, as well as a variety of pole-arms. Yes, his Teacher made sure that his training was constructed with a broad base, and a high apex.

Firearms are something that Alec took to early on in his training, much to his Teacher's consternation. Pistols, shotguns, sub-machine guns, or fully automatic assault rifles, Alec is familiar with them all. Or archery, when a more silent touch is needed. A louder one? No problem. He can manufacture his own explosives, too.

While all of these skills are immensely useful, it is the ability to see into and manipulate tau energy that truly sets a tau-jin like Alec apart from the herd. From the power to alter his personal gravity perspective, to the ability to set fires, splinter bone, deaden nerve, or burst organs from afar, he can also see into the demeanor and inner nature of the people around him (excepting those with an ability to obfuscate their auras, or the like). An affinity to see into the overall tapestry of Creation gives him a greater perspective in his own life than might be possible otherwise.

Aside from his combat skills, Alec is a mighty fine cook. Give him a side of meat, some herbs/spices, and a fire, and he can whip up a meal for even the most discerning appetites. Not a fan of meat? No problem! Being married to an elf has taught him how to prepare a mean veggie dish as well.

As an Ippon racial talent, he is a touch-telepath. This gives him a familiarity with a number of psionic arts, including (but not limited to) psychic surgery, id insinuation, and soul-binding (only one person at any one time may be bound).
