It was a shame he couldn't live up to those expectations. At least not obviously. The truth was never that easy.

A little over six feet in height and impressively athletic, Steve hid his scars behind long sleeves and a surly smile. Sarcasm and an outward indifference to the world were his shield, as opposed to some long lost archaic relic from a world long forgotten.

The world was a mean place. Rhy'din was meaner.

There were things that went bump in the night. Sometimes, he chose to bump back.
