Mama named her Austin Honey Daniels, but nearly as soon as she could sing she started insisting on being called Arianna, though no one in the family ever would… They still don’t. Being an only child, Family consisted of her cousins, Jackie, Colt, Rhett and Ford. She was younger than Rhett, but older than the rest of them.

Growing up was pretty standard. She did her chores Monday through Friday after school. Saturday was for playing, fighting and loving. But on Sunday, She was the darling of the church choir, voice of a red-necked angel (with a slightly tarnished halo.) She could have sang Rock. She could have screamed Punk. She could have sang Country. But what she loved was Opera. (A little fact was something she kept mostly to herself - for fear her of cousins making fun of her.)

She moved away and “up north” the moment she turned 18 to try to make a name for herself as an opera singer. She had already imagined the sophisticated gowns, the sparkling lights, the parties of the genteel jet-set. (She never had tea parties as a girl, she had formal soirees.)

Too many years down the road, her heart is broken; but, not by love. Her heart broke a little every time she was told that the deep twang of her voice would never lend itself to the beautiful Italian arias she so adored.

Skills:

She tried to lose the twang. She took voice lessons. She practiced. She took more voice lessons. She practiced. It softened (unless she was mad or drinking) but it never went away.

She finally had enough when the one producer told her that all she would be good for was typing memos or wearing Daisy Duke shorts around some hick bar.

The trouble here was that Austin was still a Daniels Girl, a True Daniels through and through, down to the bone. So the producer spent two weeks in the hospital and Austin Honey Daniels was sentenced to spend a month in Jail. (It would have been longer, but the producer didn’t want it made public that he had been so thoroughly whooped up on by a girl.)
