In a field of 8 fighters, Claire made her way to the semi-finals in the winners bracket after defeating Hope and Harris, but then dropped a fight to Matt Simon, who had dispatched Eden and Nayun on his way there. Matt would take the bracket and wait to see who emerged from the secondary tier. Claire then gave Nayun the boot from the tournament and came back to face Matt again, for what would be a total of a best of 3 between them. Claire won a narrow 5-4 fight with a nice comeback after being down by 2 and set up the final fight of the night. Unlike the 5-3 and 5-4 fights that came before it, this one was considerably less close. Matt took the first point with a 3rd round defense, but then got rolled by the incumbant Diamond as she scored in each of the next 5 rounds to close out a 5-1, 9 round victory and make it back-to-back DQ's. As Matt's consolation prize, he took home MoonBeryl which had sat vacant since Claire's DQ win last cycle.
The Panther's Claw will be held next Wednesday (4/19), starting at 9pm. All fighters under the rank of Emerald are invited to participate! Fighters will be elligible to earn some number of loss forgiveness credits based on performance and the winner will take home the claw as well as a prize purse of 10k silver provided by Apple.
There are no opal challenges currently outstanding.
In the arena, DoS Madness continues tonight as the tournament moves into the divisional finals. Old Man Matt took a loos in the Sweet Sixteen, but fear not Fist Nation! Kheldar won the battle of sport coordinators and sent Sylus to the spectator seats. He'll be facing last year's champion, Ellisa Morgan, on Sunday night at 9pm. Get out there and represent!
