Far southwest of the city of RhyDin is Fool's Luck Bay, a deep natural harbor and bustling trading hub, home to the Star's End spaceport and the Yggdrasil space elevator.
Star's End sits on the coast, with quonset huts, dorm capsules, shipping containers, and other prefabs comprising the docks and slums that hug the waterfront. Here the smuggling haven deep in its DNA lives on, and opportunity and danger can be found in a variety of infamous watering holes like the Star's End Bar and Grill. Uphill are the headquarters for far-flung megacorps and trading dynasties, gleaming skyscrapers that sprang up as trade boomed beyond fishing and smuggling. Hangars and landing pads abound here, as diverse in character as the traffic that uses them.
Trading junks, fishing boats, and supertankers bob in the water alongside shuttlecraft and spacefaring trawlers and small freighters, evidence of the port's long history.
The space elevator Yggdrasil rises from the open waters of the sea, anchored by the floating settlement of Mimisportr and ringed by docks and marinas. Venues have cropped up here to serve the myriad travelers coming to and from the stars by way of the elevator, among them the Greater Nexus Hotel, the vast and engrossing Idun's Apple Casino, and the Valhalla Arena where mecha duels and other combat sports are housed.
The elevator stands close to the path of Gateway Station, a vast orbital habitat with shuttlecraft ferrying passengers to and from Yggdrasil's intermediate platforms. Near the top of the tether is the docking platform Aquila, providing access to the stars across the Multiverse. Most of the elevator cars are reserved for freight, though there are luxury cars where passengers can spend leisurely days watching the heavens go past. But most prefer the shuttlecraft and teleportation pads that serve Yggdrasil, from pinnacle to anchor, bringing countless souls to seek their fortunes at Fool's Luck Bay.
