Sorcerer for a Day – An all ranks tournament

The Participants:

Anyone who has ever slung or wanted to sling a spell. No prior experience necessary.


The Gimmick:

Every participant will hold the rank of Sorcerer for the duration of the tournament.


The Prizes:

1st place – 4 pack of "Tornado in a Jar" ™

2nd place - 2 pack of "Tornado in a Jar" ™

Just what is "Tornado in a Jar" ™? It's a single use of the Keeper of Air's Elemental Fury spell bottled up in a jar. The jars do require the presence of the keeper in order to be opened safely, however they can be used at any time during a normal duel. More than one jar may even be used during the same duel, as long as it is not in consecutive rounds.

Tuesday, June 22, at 8pm ET


The Mechanics:

Please contact Brigath (DuelBrig at ringsofhonor dot org) with your intent to participate. As part of that missive, indicate the two advanced spells you wish to use during the tournament. If you already know some advanced spells, you are not required to select the ones you know. The list of contestants and the spells they have chosen will be posted at the start of the tournament. The format of the tournament will be determined by the number of participants.


The Reasons why everyone should participate (aside from the prizes):

If you have never tried DoM, this is an excellent opportunity to see what it's all about and even get to use some advanced spells.

If you are ranked below Wizard, you will get a chance to try out some new spells that you've never used before.

If you are ranked a Wizard or above, it's an great occasion to drop some of your lofty spells and see if you still have what it takes to slug it out with the rest of us common folk without any consequences to your record.

Results

Last night, 12 mighty spell casters met in the rings on the Twilight Isle and battled in a double elimination tournament. The contestants were:

The competition was fierce with much exceptional spell casting. In the end it came down to Vinny, Tim and Etherean all with one loss. Etherean stepped up to spank both Tim and Vinny and emerge as the winner, spurred to victory by his overwhelming desire to see what would happen if someone tried to inhale a "Tornado in a Jar" ™

Congratulations to Etherean and thanks to everyone who came out and competed or spectated for making this a fun night for all. The round by round results of have been posted next to this board for any who wish to view them.
