Taste of Rhydin 2025 - Cooking Demonstrations

Some of RhyDin’s culinary masters will be coming to the RhyDin Observatory Complex & Botanical Garden to share a few of their personal favorite recipes and the stories behind them! These demonstrations are open to all and will be held in the Ariana MacGyldren Culinary Arts Center on the second floor of the observatory complex building, and will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

For those unable to attend a desired session in person, they will be record and made available through the ROCBG site.

Sunday, 7/27 - Gardenhome Orchards
Join Eregor Túr Gairdín as he, along with his twins, demonstrate the fine art of canning fresh fruit and making preserves, jellies, and jams.

Monday, 7/28 - The Gilded Tusk
Gharag Beastcarver demonstrates the tools and tricks to seasoning and smoking meats, tribal style!

Tuesday, 7/29 - The Rockin’ Ronin
Get ready to rock and roll! Roll sushi, that is, as The Rockin’ Ronin’s own Hiro Okada demonstrates the proper way to prepare sushi in its many varieties.

Wednesday, 7/30 -Nicole's Bistro & Pizzeria
Chef Nicole Brock will be demonstrating how to make the perfect pizza crust! Participants are invited to create their own pizzas with the house sauces (or their create their own with provided ingredients) as well as a selection of meats from Matadero Carnicería, garden fresh veggies, and herbs.

Thursday, 7/31 - Dueling Seafood Chefs
Chefs Jack Dawkins (Twist at the Golden Pearl) and Ar’zhan (Ar’zhan’s Seafod Grill) will swap fish stories and each will try their hand at the other’s signature dish. Ice duck or sea lance, which is your choice?

Saturday, 8/2 - Wang Leung’s Chinese
Xian Leung takes over the kitchen to demonstrate some of her family’s old and well-honed stir-fry recipes that made the venerable Old Temple restaurant Wang Leung’s the neighborhood favorite it is today.
