Feast of the Two Moons

Post by Ebon Ilnaren »

The Feast of the Two Moons celebrates the one time in RhyDin's year when both moons are clear and full in the night sky: Arabrab, large and steady, and Trebor, small and swift. It is regarded as a night of destiny, when omens and dreams give hints of what the year to come holds.

Magical Lanterns
On the morning of the Feast, paper lanterns will be strung above the city's streets. Many of them are handmade by school classes or by families for weeks ahead of time, working together as a way of sharing in good fortune.

Many of RhyDin's parks and gardens, including the Solarium and the Botanical Gardens. are also bedecked with the lanterns, adding a magical light to evening performances or a simple stroll through the trees.

The lanterns shine for just this night, and are burned in the morning. Legend says that good fortune will follow all year for any home where a festival lantern is burned in the hearth.

Fortune Telling
When both moons are shining full, many of the cultures and peoples found in RhyDin believe that Fate's will can more easily be felt. Thus it is that on the Feast of the Two Moons, fortune tellers of all types can be found, palmists and cartomancers and seers, along streets and in plazas agross the city. Whether for fun or truly searching, all are encouraged to take a look at what the future may hold, in celebration of the day.

Fortune's Food
It is the Feast of the Two Moons, and so food aplenty can be found. Round foods are most common, symbolic of the moons and of Fortune's Wheel.; donuts are particularly favored, with their outer and inner circles seen to represent Arabrab and Trebor respectively. Small cakes, pastries and candies that can be eaten upon fortune sticks are also found in abundance. Be sure to partake of the many delicacies available.
