A New Star

It's a boy! Pharlen spawned a small and loud little man while she was trying to watch the Rose Parade, but fortunately, the Rose Parade repeats all day. Older siblings Jackie, Des, and Alice were happy to assist and commence to spoiling the new family member. Dad is considering a little surgery.
Later that evening, Desdenova and Jackie headed to the docks to set off fireworks to celebrate their New Year's Baby Brother.
The announcements were hand delivered by the pair the next day, along with photos of Cesar. He was born with a mop of black and hair, and do not worry, he is supposed to have blue skin! He'll have the glamorie for white skin cast soon.

Fae had waited as long as she could possibly do so, without dying of curiosity. So after the polite number of days, the imp was going to slip from the cellar (With permission of course. She didn't just invade homes..) and go meet the newest member of the family and what a bonnie little thing he was. She was instantly in love! A new little brother, who was actually shorter than her! She could hardly wait to introduce him to the fun of exploding frogs! But that must wait. Till then she gave him a little mobile, of cute little woollen clouds and bats. When the lights went down, they would glow and glitter. Softly moving in a gentle motion.

To celebrate the infant who bore the name of an emperor, Mallory gifted a ward to her friend who had been so much help in her own journey to motherhood - a laurel crown, fitting the name, meant to be hung over the nursery door. The plant had been grown with the witch's own blood, and rather than wither quickly, would endure for an entire year before withering away and losing its magic.
It provided a potent ward against illness, curses, and malevolent spirits, as well as a feeling of soothing, motherly warmth when drawn out and permitted.

Maybe it was just intuition! But the mother in sore need of a spa week found herself with exactly that.
A note was sent on Whitedown Retreat stationery, in Ettyn's script reminiscent of Carolingian minuscule, though Anya's name was in her own handwriting.
Pharlen,
We hope that you and Cesar and all your kin are well. This note gives you one week at Whitedown Retreat to enjoy as you will. It can be done at once or broken into days, and you can stay in our beds or go home. You can enjoy baths, massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, meditation, and song as you like. Attendants will bring any food or drink you like. This does not expire.
Congratulations to you and yours.
Ettyn and Anya
Attached was a Whitedown Retreat brochure and a printout with details of their spa package, as well as a hoodie in Pharlen's size and a set of soft white onesies for little Cesar that were as luxurious as the retreat's robes.

A few days after Cesar's birth, a courier left a package bearing a wax seal that Pharlen should recognize after so many years. Inside was a specialty version of one of the protective crib charms Collie and her family had been giving to newborns for a long time. The birth announcement star theme was honored with a holographic
constellation of a unicorn inside a snowglobe. When gently shaken, a colorful
fireworks display was activated.
