Post ART-Wrap Up!

Hey everyone!
It’s been a couple weeks since the ART and we wanted to do a quick follow-up post now that we’ve had a chance to catch our breath!
First, we want to thank everyone who participated and spectated, and offer a special thanks to those who shared some feedback.
It seems like almost everyone enjoyed the double-elimination format. We’re thrilled you like it, because we like it too! However, we do feel that double-elim runs the risk of taking a bit too long and wearing out its welcome. We don’t think the format can accommodate more than 16 participants. (For reference, this last ART had 14 participants).
When we prepare for our next cycle tournament, if we have advanced sign-ups of more than 16, we will be exploring alternatives including dividing the tournament into a Warlord Tournament and Talon Tournament, or shifting to single elim if that is more appropriate based on the ranks of our entrants. If we have less than 16 advanced sign-ups, walk-ons will be welcome on a first-come-first-served basis, capped at 16. We want to make sure you know now so we don’t spring it on you.
Another thing to look for in future tournaments is a slight change in the way we set up the brackets for our double elim tournament. This will be a minor change that most won’t notice, but it should help us address some bracket issues like repeated match-ups while better rewarding high-seed entrants.
Thank you again to everyone who participated, and we look forward to lots of new fun stuff coming soon from DoS!
