Tanabata in Kabuki Street July 11!
The stars in the summer sky are almost right again. Tanabata is just around the corner and Kabuki Street is full of excitement for the biggest festival of the year! Celebrating the legend of Orihime and Hikoboshi, two star crossed lovers of legend who are separated by the river of the stars for the entire year, Tanabata commemorates the one night each year when the two may cross the heavens and reunite. It is not just a festival for romantics though! Kabuki Street loves celebrating the summer season, starting with the bright colorful decorations that the residents will begin putting up days ahead of the main celebration.
On the 11th the festivities will begin with a grand parade beginning at the Zama Shrine. This year a local group of taiko drummers will join the parade!
As in years before Kabuki Streets residents will look forward to welcoming visitors from all over to join them in popular festival games, including the famous kingyo game.
Another local favorite is the suikawari game. Already many of the Kabuki Street delinquents are boasting of how many watermelons they can bust this year!
Tanabata is also about eating. Stalls serving all the favorites will be set up hastily on the 11th on all sides of Kabuki's main thoroughfares. Guests can enjoy takoyaki, yakisoba, okonomiyaki and mochi.
For the grand conclusion of the festival, most of Kabuki's businesses will turn off their outdoor signs and lights to give a rare view of the usually bright neighborhood in darkness. The better to enjoy the spectacular fireworks display. The sukeban's favorite Swiss team of pyrotechnics experts have become a bit of a tradition, and happily they have been booked for this year's festival as well!
((Tanabata is a live play event that will take place in the #streets-of-rhydin channel on the Discord server at 9 pm Eastern on Saturday, July 11th! The channel will be used for the Kabuki Street setting. Feel free to reply to this thread with your character's outfit and/or their participation in the festival. The activities above will happen throughout the night, but the fireworks show starts at midnight!))

Mallory had been eyeing several different yukata over the last couple of weeks - one of the few areas where she was not frugal, indulging in a brand new one for each Tanabata. But as soon as she snagged the PathFinder Opal from Runt, and felt the flicker of elemental earth reawaken through the empowered stone? She knew which one she'd buy, and soon went back to Kabuki Street to snag it a yukata store staying open late in advance of the festival!
She did not wear the Opal on the vine necklace she'd fashioned for it, but instead cinched it around her belt, the stone secured in the center. She wound a few more belladonna vines through her hair and around her horns, blooming with purple flowers.

Sure, it's somewhat of the same type of look from the Pink Moon Festival, but if it's a good look — why not wear it again? The haori was something new though; so it isn't all old!
Re: Tanabata in Kabuki Street July 11!
Kaho didn't find any of the yukata that appealed, but picked out a haori that she enjoyed and wore it over lighter shorts and top to weather the summer heat.

Eri got an early start on yukata shopping. It was a good thing, as she usually spent a long time working on finding just the right pattern to emphasise the summer theme. This year she found and selected one at the last stall nearest Pachinko Palace.

Morgan Decided to forego the yukata normally worn at Tanabata, and instead wore a traditional hanbok in celebration of Chilseok, the Korean version of the very same festival!
On the back is a delicate golden embroidery of two lovers crossing the bridge of stars to meet in the middle.

After the security detail at the Sato house, Yuzuki was eager to get an early start on yukata shopping. It took some time to search through the large number of stalls already set up along Kabuki Street's alleys to find the one she found one that was in bright colors that she felt suited her. Finally she made her selection triumphantly.

Feeling the excitement brewing among both students and teachers at the K.S.C.S., Eregor made sure to get a yukata that suited him. Cool blue, with a flowing design down one side that evoked a winding stream - perfect for the Keeper of Water.

Velen opted for a yukata that was brighter and warmer, hoping to invoke the warmth of the summer season.

Ebon selected a new yukata for this year's Tanabata festival, dark in color--from black to deep burgundy, depending on the light--with a deep red obi and, towards the bottom, the image of a roaring tiger.

After spending considerable time shopping with Na-rae and Mini Lisa, Izumi finally selected her yukata. The color and pattern was quite different from the previous years hanbok she had worn but Izumi seemed pleased with it.

The yukata selection was easy enough for Na-rae — the nails were another story. Mrs. Takamine was nevertheless prepared for the festival with blonde strands done up in a messy sort of updo (That took more time to get right even though it had a ``messy`` look to it) and comfortable wedges to go along with her yukata choice for the day. She made sure Mini Lisa got another festival mask to add to her collection; this time a rabbit one from the shrine.

Following Yuzuki's advice, Colleen paid a visit to Jusco to search for yukatas in small sizes for Abby and Madison. The girls enjoyed visiting the Zama Shrine as part of their adventure. They looked forward to seeing the fireworks later on.
Collie opted for deep purple.
Abby chose red.
Madison wore pink.
The girl opted for sandals instead of geta.

Doran went for a blue yukata that with a botanical motif that reminded him of the leafy branches surrounding his treehouse.
