Goblins in the brew

Post by Jake » Wed Dec 07, 2016 1:34 pm

Stomping down the stairs, leaning occasionally against the walls, the orc squinted at the light coming in through the windows. Morning? Already?

There was an incessant pounding at his temples. He couldn't really have had that much ale, could he? Yes, the fairy could definitely hold her own, and they had spent a lot of time tasting (read guzzling) sample after sample of the potential seasonal brews, but just when had they quit? He frowned and rubbed at his temples in an effort to clear his muddled thoughts. Ale. Ale. Ale. Cider. Ale. Food? Ale. Pork taquitos maybe...fried up somewhere in the afternoon. Something sparkly the fairy kept insisting he try on his taquitos. More ale. Then...

The rest faded off into a dull throbbing ache, like the pounding of war drums.

No, the pounding wasn't just in his head. He could feel it in his fingertips when he touched the wall.

Following the wall, the orc let his feet guide him towards the back of the brewery where the drumming seemed to be getting louder. As he swung the door of the brewery proper open, the smells of hops, and malt, and spices assailed him. Goblins were scrambling about furiously, working the line, preparing the new winter seasonal for distribution. Here, in accompaniment to the drums, was loud, boisterous goblin voices singing.

Jake, his face a dumbfounded stare, mouth open to voice a violence-filled complaint, instead let the door fall back closed. The sounds of goblin singing faded.

"It's much too early for this..." and he stamped and staggered his way back upstairs to bed with a mental note to remember how much the Empress Overlord could drink.
