So yes, it proved difficult for some to find duels within their own rank in the last team stage, and some Dans chafed at the fact that it was not possible for them to be first in the stage, despite a better record.

Therefore, how about implementing future Team stages like this:

Champions can duel only Champions and Dans, Kyus can only duel Kyus and Dans, and (by transitivity) Dans can duel whoever they please. Each match will score a number of points for the winner's team based on what ranks participated in the match, as follows:

Champion vs. Champion - 5 pts
Champion vs. Dan - 4 pts
Dan vs. Dan - 3 pts
Dan vs. Kyu - 2 pts
Kyu vs. Kyu - 1 pt

Then, the teams are ranked by their total, and the individual duelists are ranked (irrespective of rank) by the number of points they scored for their team. Highest gets 3 S/F/M points, then 2, then 1 for 3rd.
