It was a day like any other. The office bustling with workers happy to have some news to print. The Writer was greeted with hand shakes and pats on the back in congratulations with all the talk The Tattler was getting. They took the compliments with a courteous smile and a nod. Always feeling like the next article would be better, finding flaws in their work like a good artist should. Perhaps that is why they chose just this one letter to respond to today. Something about it had them cautious in their response as it could be a double edged sword.

"Dear Gabby,

Long time reader, first time writer! Or it feels like a long time, ha ha! I feel like I know exactly who you are, and where you are, so... very... well...

I'm what you might call an avid hobbyist. My work life is pretty killer, but applying myself passionately to my hobby helps me cut right through those frustrations easier than a knife through skin. And when I come home after a night out, whether I'm stalking a new project or finishing it off, I feel like I really accomplished something! I go to bed happy and wake up ready to power through another work day, because I love what I do in my off hours.

But lately I've been running into another hobbyist. Sometimes that happens in our work, and for the most part we aren't cutthroat about it! It's normal to exchange a few pleasantries, admire each other's killer technique, and try to pursue your projects somewhere else the next night. But we keep running into each other! I even got to see his work the other night, and just thinking how he did it all in one night AND single-handed has me over the moon! And when I told him that, do you know what he said?

"The value of our art is to hook our subjects by surprise, so the point sinks right into their back." And when he said he didn't think anyone got that-- until he saw my projects?! WOW.

But now I don't go to bed happy anymore! I spend a night out trying to do what I love and run into him instead, and when I come home I just feel like something's missing. I dread the day ahead, drag myself through the day, and only look forward to nights that lately have been leaving me unfulfilled. I've been thinking about finding a new town for my hobby, just so I can recapture the joy of what I love... But to cut right to the heart of the matter, I don't think that's going to work.

What should I do???

Your friend (maybe closer than you know! mwa ha ha),
Hooked on a hot hobbyist"

Dear Hooked,

It sounds like you have some friendly competition that might be eliminating some of your creativity. Some people can rise to a challenge while others may suffer through with difficulty. You are not alone in feeling this tortuous feeling. The best advice I can give you is to rise to the challenge. Answer the call of the wild and let your creativity shine. Take a stab at something new and perhaps the wounds you are suffering from this other hobbyist will start to heal. Maybe go back to your roots and the real reason you started this job of yours. What about it made you passionate enough that you felt you should sharpen your abilities to such a fine point? Perhaps if you strangle your doubt you may end up murdering that feeling and once more find your happy place. If not, you could always take up bird watching.

With the reply written, they didn't even take the time to reread it before sending it. Hoping upon hope the answer was sufficient enough to satisfy the urge to give up. Off to the printer it went!

Once more The Writer eagerly opened up their email to find some lovely tidbits of gossip. The people of this land certainly did have some loose lips. With ease, their fingers found the keys and soon the article was written in all its glory!

Hearts on Fire!

They say every time you hear a bell ring an angel gets its wings. However, that might not always be the case! Sources say that someone, or something, may have captured the heart of the lovely Fire Giantess Senna! No one has seen the mystery woman but they've heard her. With the tinkling of a bell, a chair can move or maybe a glass will levitate from the counter. Could this new love affair continue into the afterlife or possibly be part of it? If you have a photo of the mystery woman named Ann we here at The Tattler would love to see! Keep your eyes open folks! This Ann must be a knock out to catch Senna's attention!

The writer smiled as the article was sent away. Maybe it would lead people on a scavenger hunt for proof just like those teams that go looking for ghosts in those old buildings. Who knows? It would be interesting to find out!

The next piece of gossip was studied intently. The Writer had to weigh options on how to put it into proper words without it being considered an accusation. Their intent was to not get someone in trouble but to just bring light to certain situations. This one, needed attention!

Dare Devil Must be Stopped!

We've all seen the stunt woman that calls herself SuperStar. How could you not with all of the different stunts she's been pulling around town. Some have her landing perfectly in a shower of pink sparks while others have certainly had a few worried that something is going to be damaged. Her failed attempt at tight rope walking was almost deadly as she plummeted from one of the tallest buildings in town, distracting the good folks on their way to work and backing up traffic for miles. This last failed attempt may have ended in murder! Sources say she fell out of the sky at the beach yesterday only to land on an innocent man as he lounged in the sun. Perhaps the man didn't survive as sources tell us he didn't move once the landing was made. Did the Stunt woman try and help him? No, she seemed to have posed for photos and left him where he lay. Something has to be done about this! Unless you want to become the next pancake! Put a stop to the madness!

Hopefully someone would come forward with information about the man. It would be horrible if we had a murderer in our midst! The writer tsked their tongue and sent off the article with a shake of their head.

Smoke drifted from a nearby ashtray as The Writer sat in the dim light of the office. Nearly alone, save for the cleaning crew, the took the opportunity to bask in the silence around them. It was times like this that they could reflect on a letter a bit easier. To delve into the questions and answers without having to worry about becoming distracted by an over achiever trying to get out of the mail room. The letter picked, they slid the folded paper from the envelope and set to the task of reading.

Dear Gabby,

I've been wanting to write for a while now but haven't had the chance. I need help settling an argument. My brother wants to find a mushroom circle and see if he can catch a fairy. I told him they can be mean and he might get lost but he's determined. Should I try and stop him?

Part of the Writer wanted them to let the brother do what he wanted simply because that could make for another very interesting story, but that would not be sound advice for everyone to see so they answered in the only way they knew how.

There are many rumors about the fae and what they can or can not do. I would advise your brother to do some research at one of the many libraries that are around before he just goes tromping in the woods. There are more things to worry about out there than just fae. Would be terrible if he ended up part of the scenery.

Of course the main event to talk about today was the one everyone would expect and The Writer seemed to not to want to disappoint! The majority of the article had been typed up the day before so it didn't take much for them to fill in the blanks and get the information off to the printers.
New Keeper in The Tower of Earth
Much to the surprise of many, the position of Keeper of the Tower of Earth has changed hands to a certain Morgan LeFay! Last night's battle between him and the previous Keeper Rachael Blackthorne produced a generously mixed crowd of attendees. Perhaps more than one piece of gossip could have been obtained but we believe in being honorable at least some times. What will Morgan LaFey do with his newfound position? Speculation is certainly running amuck. We all will wait with baited breath to see just what will come of this!

No matter how much The Writer wanted to go into much juicier details, they kept this piece plain and simple. The editor would be pleasantly surprised for sure. Off to the printers it went!

The writer had so many choices to choose from with the overflow of responses they were getting with tidbits of gossip suggestions. It seemed there were plenty of creatures here among them that liked to spread rumors and The Writer was more than happy to help them do it.

Don't Drink The Tap water!
This piece of gossip comes from a very reliable source. It has been a long going rumor that the tap water in RhyDin has been very dangerous for the female of any species to drink. Well it seems a certain Runelord might have been seen drinking a glass or two here lately. Sources say she might even be showing side effects like mood swings and tears. Ladies, take our advice, do not drink the tap water. Consider this a PSA!

The Writer smirked, finished off the piece, and sent it to the printers. Perhaps this would get tongues wagging!

How many days had it been since The Writer had been in the office? From the looks of the other reporters as they walked in, longer than they had thought. Well, when a trip out of town for a story had pulled them away time meant nothing. But now, they had returned and ignored all of those looks of envy. After all, there were mounds of letters piled on the desk and dozens of emails to search through for the juicy bits of gossip from all over RhyDin. Settling, they turned on the computer and soon had that telltale music playing through the speakers that would let the others know to leave them alone. The first letter was retrieved and The Writer set to reading so that a response could be given.

Dear Gabby,

I've been wanting to write for a while. I am an adventurer and I want to find more things to slay. I've searched the area near my home and it's free from monsters but I'm tired of fighting the same old things. I want to go out into the Wilds and the forests but everyone tells me they are dangerous. But danger is what I want! Should I listen to the warnings and steer clear or should I stick with my gut and forage on?

The writer was certain of the response but could they live with the guilt of someone possibly dying due to advice from them. A curl of lips was the only answer as fingers found the keys and soon a response was given.

If adventure is what you're looking for, the land of RhyDin will not disappoint. Your friends and family might worry because they care about you but what is an adventure without a bit of risk? I say, carry on and walk with a broad sword! Just be careful!

People Behaving Strangely Around RhyDin?

Yes, it's not uncommon to see strange things about this land we all live in, however we have been given information that for some reason normally animated people have become rather....stone faced. Now why is this such a trend? People getting into a new uprising of statues that have seemingly been popping up all over town. Maybe they are just wanting to give credit to the sculptor, who, no one knows who it is! The carvings have no initials that brag on them and no one knows when or where they will pop up. All we know is these beautiful, detailed sculptures have been showing up in parks and gardens across RhyDin. Who's our mystery sculptor?! Inquiring minds (ours!) want to know!

With a grin, the writer sent off the column to the printers knowing what a stir it was going to cause. Perhaps it would even encourage more people to go out and admire the works of art.

Are the Rings just for fighting?

It seems that The Outback had some interesting action last night. Sources have told us that the rings that most use to learn how to fight have also become used for something a bit more...Could they attract more attention? It seems two women seem to think so. Last night there might have been something in the air between Jaycy and Hope as they ended their fight and sealed it with a....kiss. The two were seen leaving together in quite a hurry so perhaps there is more to this story than what we know.

The Writer smiled as they finished the story. Eager to see what this little piece of gossip would cause among the citizens. Such fun was had this weekend!

With everything that had been happening as of late, The Writer didn't have a chance to collect the letters that had been sent in to them. There was so much more to write about today! Eagerly, they headed through the hustle and bustle of the office, ignoring the rambunctiousness going on around them as the rest of the crew came in and started in on their morning meetings. The chair was pulled out and the writer settled to flip the switch on the computer to bring it to life. Soon enough, the sweet sound of music would drown out the noise around them so that way they were able to zone in on the little tidbits of information they had received the night prior.

Vampires Not To Be Trusted!

It seems that we citizens as a whole have come to allow a certain breed of...species among us without worry or concern. Vampires have walked RhyDin unscathed for a time now and have been somewhat accepted as part of the community as a whole. Well, perhaps it was foolish of us to do that. We here at The RhyDin Tattler have been given some video footage of what seems to be a rather nasty attack on innocent people by a few of those creatures mentioned above. Could it be that the vampires of the realm have decided to come together or is someone leading them? Sources say a woman with long silver hair might be involved as well. Could she be the reason they have turned nasty? Should we be worried about what they or she will do next? Any information about this situation would be welcomed as we here at The Tattler want to make sure the people of RhyDin are able to sleep without worry at night.

With the last key pushed, the writer sat back and admired the piece. Knowing what kind of flurry of activity this article might cause, they smiled and pressed the send button before they could change their mind.

The gossip business could take a toll on one if they let it. Especially around here! However, the writer thrived off of the nearly overwhelming amount of little tid bits of information they had been receiving. The pile of papers on their desk was full of juicy information and the writer was more than happy to sift through it to find some to put to words. Alone in the office, for once, they turned on the computer, let the music surround them, and bent over the keys.

Creatures are coming out of the water!

Sources say that the beach might not be the best place to be if you don't have the right protection. From sharks, to crabs, to...creatures from the black lagoon? One might need extra protection when going to lounge in the sand and we're not talking sun screen! Last night, during a beach celebration, someone spotted a rather scaly and fishy creature appear and seem to walk from the water towards the spectators. We've not heard if any were injured however several were frightened and might have left some of their swim attire behind! Be ever watchful RhyDin even a relaxing day on the beach can be hazardous to your health!

Deciding to stick with the theme of the last piece, the writer smiled down at the next submission from the same event the night prior. Perhaps they would need to spend more time at the beach?

Swine Thief Among Us!

Farmers this is a heads up and a PSA to you to watch your livestock. We have it under good authority that there might be a swine thief on the loose! Last night, during a celebration on the beach, there was a thief among the party goers. It seems as everyone was dancing and singing, swimming, and drinking, someone decided to make away with the main feast of the night. The roasted pig! No one seems to have gotten a look at the thief but Rhydin's top investigators are combing the area to see if they can come up with any leads. Perhaps it's time to make sure we be more vigilant and aware of our animals. Wouldn't want dear old fluffy to come up missing!

The weekend had been a series of events that saw the office busy come Monday morning. The Writer could do nothing but roll their eyes at the flurry of activity around them as they settled in at their desk. Headphones would help to let them slip into their own corner of solitude so that the mail could be gone through with careful consideration. One such piece was selected and caused them to stop and read it over twice more. Now that was just the type of stuff they were looking for! It didn't take long for the article to be pieced together.

Baroness Gets Around!

Just when we here at The Tattler had uncovered a likely budding romance involving The Baroness of Old Market, she flips things upside down on us...Or rather on a certain silver haired vixen. Sources say that there was talk all over Old Market district Saturday about how their Baroness had gone to eat sushi with a silver-haired woman the night before in an Old Market eatery a few blocks from the Cardinal Inn ....... and how later in the night, loud sounds could be heard from the open glass doors on the third floor for several hours.
Some residents remarked this wasn't the first time.
Can the Baroness be playing the field? Maybe she's just securing herself a better...position..among the people of Old Market? Who's next on her list? Feel free to submit applications here and we will see she gets them!

Now that was sure to have tongues waggling. The Writer could only smirk as they sent the juicy piece to the printers.

The news that hit their desk had fingers itching to start writing instantly. It wouldn't take long for this piece to be presented to the printers for same day print!

Air and Earth Rivalry Intensifies!

Everyone always saw the two Morgans as possible friends, or at least companions but it seems being the Keeper of Air has filled The Worst Chae's head with bad ideas as he seemed to take serious aggression against The Keeper of Earth, Morgan LaFey, out in the ring the other night in The Arcade. Perhaps it's just due to Earth and Air always being at each other's throats or could it be they are just trying to show who's the better Morgan? Even if Chae is known for his brutal attacks in the ring and LaFey is known for his style and pizazz the fight the other night might have hinted at the power hidden beneath that snazzy surface LaFey continues to show with his newfound title. Some say he took on a beastly form and might have even delighted in the gruesome battle that eventually lead to his victory. No one really knows though as the Keeper of Earth has not been seen much in public since! Watch out there's something to be said about the Big Bad Wolf...

There was a wicked laugh as the send key was pressed.

The weekend had bled into the week and a few days past without a single article written. Perhaps The Writer was just wanting people to anticipate it a bit more. Or maybe they had to wait for just the right thing to write about. This morning, they had such a thing as another piece of juicy gossip hit their desk. With the music playing, the office silent beyond their computer, the writer settled in to the task with fingers poised over the keyboard.

Beach Side Shenanigans

Last night seemed to be a sort of farewell to the beach as the season is starting to wind down. Carnival games and rides are always an excuse to bring out the kid in everyone however, add a little alcohol to the mix and you're in for a treat. Such a treat was had at the Tiki Bar last night as things seemed to ramp up even long after everyone was gone. Starting off with a few rounds of drunken singing by a few ladies, the reverie seemed to entice even the most silent of Rhydinians to sing a tune. Salvadore Delahada is normally one to keep to the background but last night it's rumored that even he sang a few lines from a well known french song. Perhaps his vocal ability was more stunning than even we at The Tattler know as it seemed to have caused a certain Turkish man to put on a show all of his own. We have it on good authority that Koyan's showing of biceps might have made more than one pair of unmentionables hit the sand last night! Imagine, singing and stripping all at the beach and no cameras around to catch it. For shame! Rhydin, if you see one of these two men out and about, make sure to compliment their....talents. We're sure they would love the encouragement!

There was no hesitation in sending this masterpiece in. The writer was confident this would set tongues to waggling!
