With the start of regulation dueling on September 1st, applications to the Barons’ Tournament are now officially closed. The entrants are Alasdair Galloway, Michelle Montoya, Jewell Ravenlock, and Gloria Blaze.

As a result of the four participants and the round robin format, each of the competing barons will fight a total of three matches, one against each of their competitors. In no particular order, we will see,

Duelists of the Arena,

Tonight the Baroness of Dragon’s Gate, Michelle Montoya, faced the Baron of New Haven, Alasdair Galloway. The Baroness quickly built up a lead, and in the final two rounds the Baron made a comeback, ending in a trade of blows, 5-2 in the Baroness’ favor.

With this victory, Michelle Montoya’s record is 3-0 in the Tournament of Barons, having bested every participating baron. I therefore submit to Arena staff that the tournament is concluded, and that Michelle be declared the new Overbaker.

For the record, the Baron of New Haven, the Baroness of Old Temple, and myself as the Baroness of Cadentia all declared their alignment as loyal to the Overbaker.

I'd like to thank all those who participated in the Barons Council for their swift decision and willingness to oversee the decided tournament. As for the leftover Barony: The Dragon's Gate barony will remain vacant for the time being with a new owner to be decided by tournament toward the end of the month.

Busy time of year for the landscaper Baron, but she finally found the cork board message and scribbled her reply on it.

It has been 14 days since Michelle Montoya officially began her reign as Overlord of the Duel of Swords. 7 of these 14 days were given to Arithon Falessen to officially state his alignment, be it on the cork or in private to our standings keeper.

The baron has not fulfilled this obligation.

Starting Sunday, September 22nd at 6 PM (ET), the choice of alignment then fell onto Overlord Michelle Montoya. The Duel of Swords staff reached out to Overlord Montoya and discussed the need of an official alignment declaration. Overlord Montoya stated that she would attempt to contact the Baron of Old Market, and while officially the choice was no longer in Old Markets hands, we respected this agreement — as we had during the reign of former Overlord Mallory Maeda, when Arithon Falessen did not state his alignment officially within a timely manner. To go into more detail: It is the rule that after 7 days the choice of alignment is the Overlords to make, but if their method of choice is to give the Baron an extra week, then we see no reason not to respect that wish.

No official statement of alignment has been made as of 6 PM (ET) today: Sunday, September 29th, 2019.

Due to the above stated facts and no official posting made by either the Baron of Old Market, or the Overlord, the Barony of Old Market will be aligned as Renegade. As the alignment of "Unaligned" is not an official alignment.

The Baron of Old Market may petition for loyalty if he so wishes, but will be considered Renegade until such petition is made and accepted by Overlord Montoya.
