Maybe this could be an alternative to altering someone's In Character story experience and tweaking the issue at a more game-play perspective. It might be a little more difficult to measure but I think it's something that could provide a few boons to play. Maybe set the duration length as 'x days OR dueling x times to clear the status'.
Sounds like a pain in the ass to keep track of.

It would be a considerable more effort but less than SoA demanded in the past.

My question is
Does this cover the recent Banishments to Renegade? That would be the one area I could see being where the abuse could come in.
They are neither Deserter, nor was it their choice to have an Alignment change. It was at the whim of the Overlord. So is there a contingency that takes that scenario into account?
Though if someone decided to banish Aaliyah, she's not one to sit back and say "May I have another, sir."

As far as the banishment clause, it makes sense why it's there. If a Baron's forced Renegade against their will they should have the ample opportunity to right that wrong. Maybe a good work around would be a tighter window for that reciprocated challenged? A week if you were forced Renegade against your will to get your challenge done?
People are always going to find a way to twist what's there for what they intend. I don't really know if the Loyal to Rene is the core of the abuse but I can't really come up with an angle that doesn't reduce player's options in some capacity. Might be reason to search for a new solution on the idea of abuse in general.

Could you please keep kind of discussion left open for at least a week? Some players are not able to check boards everyday, therefore, miss the chance to participate.
While I don't object to the immediate change of alignment, per se, I think it might cause some confusion. I'd like to request (much as was done for challenge posts) that if that is going to become the rule and standard that it be a requirement to specifically note something like: "Barony: Alignment Changed to Renegade" or "Barony: Petition for Loyalty Granted," etc. in the subject header of the board posts.

That was posted because I had said I felt that the discussion didn't seem to be going any further. Just so there's awareness of why it was brought up.

Fair enough!

Bumping this thread because I imagine the discussion is over at this point and I'm actually interested in knowing what comes next.

Sorry, we got a little preoccupied for a bit of time there and it slipped my mind in regards to this discussion.
We thought it over and given the opinions, and the fact that it's not something that had ever occurred in the past, we don't anticipate a need to alter the rule in regards to alignment switches at this time. This doesn't mean that if it should become a problem in the future we won't address it, just that there doesn't appear to be a real reason to make any changes to this right now.
I want to personally thank everyone who gave their opinion on the subject, and we, the staff, are appreciative of your participation.
Thank you
