Hey y'all!
Just wanted to chime in. First, I wanted to tell you all that I found RoH to be very welcoming. Sure you've got some who are friends and prefer to play together, but as a whole, I found RoH to be very welcoming! I had never spoke to or played with the majority of the people who welcomed me with open arms.
Initially I intended for Joey to only become involved with DoM. Then slowly the friends I had made encouraged me and Joey to expand and try other things to see what we like.
So, Joey tried DoF and Dos as well.
Really Joey's sport is DoM, that's the one she training in. Though, she is admittedly not a serious dueler at this point. Right now it's still a bit of a hobby for her.
DoF would be the next sport Jo' is comfortable in. DoS would be last. It makes little sense for Joey to be doing DoS. She only got into when another character urged her to and was attempting to teach her how it was done so she could get a taste for it.
So, that is why Joey hasn't really played in DoS again, she tried it, it was fun, but it's not "her" sport.
Another reason *I* as a player sometimes refrain from getting involved more is that I simply do not get dueling.
Yep, I can admit that. No matter how many times I read the matrix and the rules and everything else, it's all still a bit jumbled to me. Thankfully, I have some friends who are assisting me with practice sessions and understanding the matrix.
Perhaps many do not continue to duel because they are having difficulty grasping on to the rules or concepts of dueling? Sure, the information is there and readily available. But it can be a bit intimidating and hard to understand.
From what I gather, most of you have sort of been "raised" around dueling in your RP career. It was a important part of your RP and it was a part of it from the beginning.
Perhaps a stream lining of rules, regulations, and the matrix could happen? An easier to follow guide may encourage more people to learn the sports and understand how to gain rank and therefore encourage them to stick around if they believe they can have hope of gaining a title or rank on RoH.
Again, the information is there, it just may be difficult for some to grasp, like myself.
I feel a little doofy admitting that I don't get something that seems to come to easy to most of you, but if it may lend a hand in helping to get more people to participate, I'm all for that.
That's all. Thanks. [/img]
