High Holidays

[Lily]

Lily sits by the pool. This has become her favorite spot. Weeks of planning for this moment: the Temple's High Holidays. Everything is going as planned. The Temple's Initiates are conducting the ceremonies for the general public. They will lead them in prayer for seven days. The Temple's accepted are in charge of most of the highest rituals--rituals not meant for the common public. Lily will officiate after sundown.

An Accepted exits the Temple's arched door and makes her way around the pool to where Lily sits as in silent prayer. Lily nods in acknowledgement as she is told that everything is ready. The Accepted quietly walks back to the Temple. Lily looks at the swirling waters once more. Her young face, always serene for someone her age, reflects the pain she is keeping inside but for a moment. Her brow furrows slightly and she closes her eyes. With a deep breath she stands, her face back to her usual calm.

"The White Lady is always with me." She murmurs softly as she looks at the Temple. "The White Lady guides me."

Slowly she makes her way to the Temple to begin the rituals.
