Acceptance Speech

Post by Tenball »

Town Hall Plaza, RhyDin
Monday, 29 September 2025, noon

Press from local, regional, and even a few multiversal news outlets had gathered in front of the Town Hall steps, waiting for the newly-elected Governor to formally accept the office. Aside from the locals, some of them had first arrived almost immediately after the nominations were announced, while the rest trickled into town over the following week. Now the story, like all good ones, had reached its end.

A cheer arose from the crowd of RhyDinians surrounding the press, echoed by 90,000 and 1 fans across the city, as outgoing Governor Aristotle Kruger Allen--The Anvil--stepped from the Town Hall and waved, then struck one of his famous Poses as someone called out a Hell, yeah! "Thank you all!" he said after the applause calmed down. "Having you all in my corner has been an honor. Now it's time to give your support to another. Join me in welcoming to office, RhyDin's new governor, Tenball!"

There was more applause and cheering, though not up to Anvil levels, as the beholder floated out of the Town Hall doors and up to the podium from which Kruger had stepped aside. "Hello, and thank you all for coming here. I won't take up too much of your time, as I know you all have lives to live. First off, I wanted to thank my predecessor and, if I may, my friend, Kruger." Tenball turned towards the Anvil and dipped forward slightly in a nodding motion. "The city appreciates your service in this past year, and we look forward to seeing your achievements to come, both in and out of the rings. Now go enjoy family life! Thank you!" That garnered another raucous round of cheering.

Once the cheers died down again, Ten continued. "I would also like to thank my fellow candidates in this election: Abyss Chasm, Kira Adia, and particularly Anubis Karos. You all stepped up and put yourself and your ideas out there, and that is a wonderful and courageous act!" There was another round of applause. "To all those who heard my message and were moved to support it and me in the polls, I appreciate you immensely. The people of RhyDin are the foundation of this city, its bedrock, and without you all of the pageantry and spectacle would be utterly meaningless. You are the ones that truly matter, and in the year to come I intend to do my utmost to make this a city you can be proud to call your home!" Someone in the crowd gave a whistle, followed by another as a wave of applause swept across the crowd.

"Now, I know that my victory in this election was far from a landslide, and to those who would've preferred another standing before you today, I want you to know that you do have a voice, and I have heard you. While it may not be as widespread as some have claimed, there are parts of this city where-" Tenball paused a moment to consider their words. "Where the foundation has its cracks. Some of you may feel ignored by so-called heroes and villains, gods and monsters running amok. You may feel ignored, unheard, or too afraid of the powerful to speak up. I ask you to speak. Contact the Governor's Office with any questions, concerns, or problems. Send a courier, make a phone call, write a letter... Hells, come see me if I'm tending at the Red Dragon! In the next week or so, I hope to reorganize RhyDin's infrastructure, but we'll need your voices to guide us to where efforts are needed most. So please reach out. You will be heard!"

"Thank you all for coming today! I wish you all the best and hope to live up to your expectations. Again, thank you!"

?((Many thanks to Kruger's player for providing his dialogue!))
