Re: It's All About The Music, Man
First Day Of My Life
Bright Eyes
I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning, 2005
This is the first day of my life
I swear I was born right in the doorway
I went out in the rain
Suddenly everything changed
They’re spreading blankets on the beach
Yours is the first face that I saw
I think I was blind before I met you
I don’t know where I am
I don’t know where I’ve been
But I know where I want to go
So I thought I’d let you know
That these things take forever
I especially am slow
But I realize that I need you
And I wondered if I could come home
Remember the time you drove all night
Just to meet me in the morning
And I thought it was strange
You said everything changed
You felt as if you’d just woke up
And you said “This is the first day of my life
I’m glad I didn’t die before I met you
But now I don’t care
I could go anywhere with you
And I’d probably be happy.”
So if you want to be with me
With these things there’s no telling
We just have to wait and see
But I’d rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery
Besides maybe this time is different
I mean I really think you like me

Re: It's All About The Music, Man
Yes, the Doobie Brothers.
Here to Love You
The Doobie Brothers
Minute by Minute, 1978
I’ve heard it said that the weight of the world’s problems
Is enough to make the ball fall out of space
It ain’t even worth it to live
With all that’s goin’ wrong
Let me just go down saying
That I’m glad to be here
Here with all the same pain and laughs
Everybody knows
Some men think they’re born to be king now
Maybe that’s true
But I think passing love around
Is all we were born to do
Let them build their kingdoms
Let them make the laws for this world to heed
You and I make life worth living
Right here in each others arms
I’m here to love you, baby
No more loneliness
No more emptiness
I’m here to love you, yeah
Let them build their kingdoms
Let them make the laws for this world to heed
You and I make life worth living
Right here in each others arms
I’m here to love you, baby
No more loneliness
No more emptiness
I’m here to love you, yeah
I’m here to love you
Just let me go on loving you
Don’t stop me now while I’m feeling this way

Re: It's All About The Music, Man
Izira says she thinks of this song when she thinks about Gren.
Eclipse (All Yours)
Metric
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, 2010
All the lives
Always tempted to trade
Will they hate me for
All the choices I made?
Will they stop when they see me again?
I can’t stop, now I know who I am
I’m all yours
I’m not afraid
And you’re all mine
Say what they may
And all your love
I’ll take to the grave
And all my life starts . . .
They can’t tear me down
They can’t take you out of my thoughts
Under every scar
There’s a battle I’ve lost
Will they stop when they see us again?
I can’t stop, now I know who I am
I’m all yours
I’m not afraid
And you’re all mine
Say what they may
And all your love
I’ll take to the grave
And all my life starts
Starts now

Never My Love
The Association
Insight Out, 1967
You ask me if there’ll come a time
When I grow tired of you
Never my love
Never my love
You wonder if this heart of mine
Will lose its desire for you
Never my love
Never my love
What makes you think love will end
When you know that my whole life depends
On you (on you)
Never my love
Never my love
You say you fear I’ll change my mind
And I won’t require you
Never my love
Never my love
How can you think love will end
When I’ve asked you to spend your whole life
With me (with me, with me)
Never my love
Never my love
Never my love
Never my love

Superman (It’s Not Easy)
Five For Fighting
America Town, 2000
I can’t stand to fly
I’m not that naive
I’m just out to find
The better part of me
I’m more than a bird
I’m more than a plane
I’m more than some
Pretty face beside a train
And it’s not easy to be me
I wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home I’ll never see
It may sound absurd
But don’t be naive
Even heroes have
The right to bleed
I may be disturbed
But won’t you concede
Even heroes have
The right to dream
And it’s not easy to be me
Up, up and away
Away from me
Well it’s all right
You can all sleep sound tonight
I’m not crazy
Or anything
I can’t stand to fly
I’m not that naive
Men weren’t meant to ride
With clouds between their knees
I’m only a man
In a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite
On this one way street
Only a man
In a funny red sheet
Looking for special things
Inside of me
Inside of me
Inside of me
Yeah, inside of me
Inside of me
I’m only a man
In a funny red sheet
I’m only a man
Looking for a dream
I’m only a man
In a funny red sheet
And it’s not easy
Woo hoo hoo
It’s not easy to be me

Naked As We Came
Iron & Wine
Our Endless Numbered Days, 2004
She says "Wake up, it's no use pretending"
I'll keep stealing, breathing her
Birds are leaving over autumn's ending
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open
Naked as we came
One will spread our
Ashes around the yard
She says, "If I leave before you, darling,
don't you waste me in the ground."
I lay smiling like our sleeping children
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open
Naked as we came
One will spread our
Ashes around the yard

Rises the Moon
Liana Flores
Recently,2019
Days seem sometimes as if they'll never end
Sun digs its heels to taunt you
But after sunlit days, one thing stays the same
Rises the moon
Days fade into a watercolor blur
Memories swim and haunt you
But look into the lake, shimmering like smoke
Rises the moon
Ohhhh, close your weary eyes
I promise you that soon the Autumn comes
To darken fading Summer skies
Breathe, breathe, breathe
Days pull you down just like a sinking ship
Floating is getting harder
But tread the water, child, and know that meanwhile
Rises the moon
Days pull you up just like a daffodil
Uprooted from its garden
They'll tell you what you owe, but know even so
Rises the moon
You'll be visited by sleep
I promise you that soon the Autumn comes
To steal away each dream you keep
Breathe, breathe, breathe

Young Folks
Peter Bjorn and John
Writer's Block, 2006
If I told you things I did before
Told you how I used to be
Would you go along with someone like me?
If you knew my story word for word
Had all of my history
Would you go along with someone like me?
I did before and had my share
It didn't lead nowhere
I would go along with someone like you
It doesn't matter what you did
Who you were hanging with
We could stick around and see this night through
And we don't care about the young folks
Talkin' 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
Talkin' 'bout the old style too
And we don't care about our own faults
Talkin' 'bout our own style
All we care about is talking
Talking only me and you
Usually when things has gone this far
People tend to disappear
No one will surprise me unless you do
I can tell there's something goin' on
Hours seems to disappear
Everyone is leaving I'm still with you
It doesn't matter what we do
Where we are going to
We can stick around and see this night through
And we don't care about the young folks
Talkin' 'bout the young style
And we don't care about the old folks
