Hi, all!

I've extended open auditions to Sat, 9/25, when the auditions thread will be officially closed. If you have not posted an audition or PMed me with your intentions by then, but still want to participate, drop me a PM and I'll add your character to the roll call.

I will be posting the new roll call over the weekend, as well as the details for the first play of the new season. I will also be distributing icons (like the one shown below) to any characters who are participating in the upcoming theater year as soon as I have them available.

Just a final note: If you want your character to be involved in the theater, but they are not a performer, there are plenty of other jobs available. Just drop me a PM and let me know what you'd like your character to do and we'll try to make it happen.

Roll Call 2021-2022

The new Roll Call for the 2021-2022 theater year has been posted here.

AUDITIONS ARE NOW OFFICIALLY CLOSED. Thank you to everyone who posted! That said, if you lost track of time and still want to be part of the theater, simply drop me a PM and we'll do our best to squeeze you in. (We do request at least some participation in the way of live RP or posts to remain an active member in the theater, but it is minimal.)

The first production of the new year will be the Repertory Company's performance of Saint Joan, which runs from 9/27 to 10/9. We regularly post a list of upcoming shows on the Shanachie Theater Calendar, if you're interested in taking a peek. Rehearsals obviously take place prior to production, but we don't post the cast list until the show is scheduled to take place.

We followed the audition requests as much as possible, but don't hesitate to contact me if you think we missed something or if you have a question.

Like last year, we decided to not only list the performers in the Roll Call, but also some of the people who run things behind the scenes, so that everyone knows who's who.

Inventory icons have been distributed. Please let me know if I missed anyone.

If anyone has any questions, concerns, or problems with the Roll Call or anything else concerning the theater, please do not hesitate to drop me a PM.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Hi, all!

I have some good news and some bad news to share with you all.

First, the good news - The Shanachie will be hosting a holiday party on Sunday, January 2nd, for cast and crew members of all the companies, along with their families. This will be a board only event. I will be posting more details to this thread soon.

Now for the bad news - I regret to inform you all that Mataya's player and I have decided to close the doors of the Shanachie for the foreseeable future. This is not a decision that was made lightly, but we are both finding it difficult juggling everything that's going on in our lives, and so, we've decided it's time to let our little corner of Rhy'Din go - at least, for now. The theater will be officially closing following the holiday party.

The Shanachie Theater has been part of Rhy'Din since 2010, when it was first created by Mataya's player on DM, and there have been countless players and characters who've been part of this place since then. We want you all to know how much we really and truly appreciate each and every one of you and have enjoyed reading your posts and interacting with you all. It is not without sadness that we have made this decision, but this past year has been a difficult one, and as Mataya's player likes to say, we just don't have the spoons to keep it going anymore.

We want to thank everyone who has ever participated in the theater, as well as those who have supported us throughout the years. There are far too many of you to name, but you should all know who you are! Just to be clear, while we appreciate any offers to help, we have decided it would be best to just close. Players are certainly welcome to create their own version of a theater, if they so desire, but the Shanachie will be officially closing its doors in January.

We apologize profusely for disappointing anyone - especially those new to the theater - but we hope you have all enjoyed your time spent here.

Once again, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We've had a good, long run here in Rhy'Din, and for that, we are truly grateful. If anyone wants to keep in touch, you can PM me for contact info.

Just FYI, the following businesses, which are connected to the Shanachie, will remain open. Feel free to use any of them in your playables, and if anyone has any questions, drop me a PM.

Shanachie STARS - A weekly performing arts program for children aged between six and sixteen, where they can learn to perform through singing, dancing, and acting under the tutelage of respected professionals within each field.

Rosita De Luca School of Performing Arts - The school is open to anyone over the age of sixteen who is interested in preparing for a career in the theater.

De Luca Dance Studio - Dance classes for all ages and levels, featuring ballet, jazz, and tap, along with Ballroom/Latin classes for adults.

Incredible Edibles - Enjoy our specialty coffees and pastries, salads and sandwiches, or if you're looking for something more robust, try ordering something from the Grill or the Kitchen! Incredible Edibles also provides a catering service.

As promised, the Shanachie STARS Program will end the school year with a special production of Oliver, JR! the weekends of 6/24-6/26 and 7/1-7/3.

In order to give as many students as possible a role, we split the production into two separate performances, each with a different cast, except for the parts of Mr. Bumble and Bill Sikes, which will be played respectively by Robert Mallory and Doran Ilnaren, who are former STARS students and currently assist with classes. Casting was challenging, to say the least, but I hope everyone involved is happy with their parts. You can assume that any students who weren't assigned specific parts will round out the rest of the cast.

At the conclusion of the final performance on July 3rd, there will be a cast picnic for all members of STARS and their families, which will take place on the grounds of the Shanachie Theater. You can use your imagination regarding the details, but there will be plenty of food, games, and fun for all ages.

STARS classes will resume in September. If you are interested in having your child PC or NPC between the ages of 6-16 participate, please let me know by the end of August, so I can put together a Student Roster. (All I need are the names, ages, and genders of the children.) Also, the dance studio and performing arts school are available to anyone wishing to enroll. Just let me know or post in those threads.

We do not need any additional instructors at this time; however, there are still jobs available within the theater, performing arts school, dance studio, and cafe should you wish your character to be employed there. As for the theater itself, it will remain closed for now, but is available for use on a limited basis - just ask!

Feel free to make use of this playable in your live RP and posts, but please do not disrupt the setting. If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me. I don't have a lot of time for RP right now, but I do check my PMs and the boards on a daily basis. Enjoy!

Hi, all!

Just FYI, I am planning on requesting that this folder be moved to the Archives, at least for now. I just don't have time to keep this folder going, and there hasn't been enough activity to warrant keeping it open any longer.

Thank you to EVERYONE who supported this project in the past and who participated in the theater in any way. Special thanks to the players of Mataya, Maggie, and Doran for your help and support over the years. <3 you all!

It's been fun, but I do believe the time has come to retire this folder, at least for now. Who knows what the future will bring?

Before I request for this folder to be moved to the Archives, I just want to mention that if anyone is looking for story threads that were posted prior to us moving the folder to RoH, the posts are archived at DM and also at the Wayback Machine. The posts go all the way back to 2010, so there's a lot there. If anyone is looking for something, just let me know and I'll try and dig it up for you. Also, just FYI, only posts are archived, not character profiles.

HUGE thanks to Maggie's Player for archiving the folder at Wayback - I'm sure it was a LOT of work, and I really appreciate your help! You're awesome and I you.
