It's a Twilight Christmas! (Event)

Post by Helea Alwin »

It's Christmas on Twilight Isle!

Beneath the bough of the giant cherry blossom tree within the Sakura Gardens stands a lone Christmas tree blanketed in ever-falling snow.

Nearby stands festively dressed druids who gesture to visitors and onlookers toward a gathering of Wish Cards for the New Year atop an ornately carved wooden table. Among the glowing lights and ornaments of the tree you will see many sealed wished envelopes hanging from branches.

With card and pen in hand write down your wish and find a spot for it on the tree!
Keep your wish secret and perhaps it may very well come true in the coming year!

Not only that.. but once you have hung your card it is said that if you return to Twilight Isle after Christmas and check beneath the tree — a gift will be waiting for you.

The druids will also offer you a spot beneath the tree to leave a gift for your special someone(s) if you like!

After hanging your Wish Card, be sure to venture back to the beach and warm yourself up with the December Twilight Isle Drink of the Month: The Christmas Special!

Cinnamon sugar, eggnog, vodka, kahlua, ground ginger, for a gingerbread-esque taste that is sure to please. Also offered as non-alcoholic gingerbread eggnog as well.

With your first purchase of the Christmas Special you will also be gifted one of three collectables mugs!
Which one you receive will be a surprise!

(( OOC Note: You will receive the mug as an icon for your profile! ))

((OOC: Happy Holidays and well wishes to you and yours from the Twilight Isle team! Reply to this thread with your Wish for the New Year using the picture card posted above or in text format! Your character will receive their gift at the end of December. If you'd like the Christmas Special limited icon, be sure to write how your character picks up the drink! Feel free to also reply to the thread listing gifts you'd like to leave beneath the tree for others! Have fun!))

Good health and happiness — Na-rae's written wish for the new year was tucked away in an envelope and hung on the giant tree. A wish such as that could be considered basic, perhaps even a default choice of sorts, but it is truly what she wished for. Health and happiness for her family and friends.

The trip back to the beach would be an easy enough one, though she could not help but complain inwardly that maybe she should have went shopping AFTER her visit to the tree. With bags in hand she made the holiday display at the Twilight Isle bar her next and and final stop on the isle. With one gift-wrapped surprise of a mug in yet another bag, along with her drink choice of the Christmas Special, she made her way back to the Twilight Market.

On the longest night of the year, Max was typically very busy, and this year was no exception. But the night was quite young when she stopped by to hang her wish on the holiday tree and even ran into a familiar wizard. So Max invited the woman to take a short moment with her at the Twilight Isle bar, and catch up over a Christmas Special, promising that there would be no funny work business at all!

After stopping by Twilight Isle to hang her Christmas Wish on the tree, Penny was convinced to join Max for a quick drink. Sipping something called the Christmas Special, she inquired after her father with the gentle tease of supposing he was particularly busy this time of year. Knowing Max would be busy on this eve, Penny excused herself before the hour could grow too late. With it being Solstice and all, the Knight of the Wylde had her own plans to attend to and a pilot to find.

After hearing about the Wish Cards from Penny the night before, Patrick decided to take his niece on a little excursion to Twilight Isle to make some wishes of their own (and to give her moms a break, if only for the morning). Being that she was only seven months old, Patrick had to spell things out for the little miss, but Midori added her own personal touch to the card before they hung it on the tree. When they were finished, he ordered a non-alcoholic Christmas Special to share with the baby. Just a few sips!

Ettyn had long been someone to rely on patience and meditation, but she had not been prayerful until recently. Only since her death curse had ended and become an oath with Anya to their patron, Farwolaeth. At night or at dawn, when she knelt in her bed to attune her body and her senses, often she turned her thoughts towards desires for others and herself, things that she wished to happen or to continue, where their absence made or would make her restless, uneasy, and - in a certain sense - out of balance. She was not certain that the death deity that had become a father figure to them both heard them all, but that he could, and sometimes did, was enough for her to offer them in prayer.

Wishes, she had surmised from her interactions with a cosmic manifestation of Desire, could be prayers, too.

When she was alone and knew the area around the rings to be quiet, she took a card to the Christmas tree.

Only the ever-falling snow that had landed in her hair gave a sign of where she had been, and soon enough it melted away.

Beneath the tree is a rather plain looking wooden box bound by a gold ribbon.
Hanging from the ribbon is a small card bearing the name `Ettyn`.

Amaris would come with a special pen and after a few moments of staring up at the tree and letting the snow land and melt on her nose, she grinned having the best wish in her mind. She walked over and wrote the wish and then took it to the tree finding a lovely secret spot to put the wish.

The Keeper of Fire left the Tower once the members of the Household had settled down finally for the night after the day's holiday celebrations. The hem of her black, red and gold embroidered silk kaftan brushed the Isle sands as she took the path to the Sakura Gardens.

Rachael soon stood before the everlasting snow-dusted Christmas tree and did not feel the chill of the snow under her bare feet. While she fastened the festive red envelope on one of the branches, she murmured a soft prayer in Latin.

The Keeper then purchased two servings of alcoholic and seventeen servings of the nonalcoholic versions of the Christmas special once that task was completed.

The sounds of Silent Night, Holy Night, sung in Rachael's strong alto voice, echoed in the Isle air long after she returned to the Fire Tower.

Some time during their holiday party, Dris snuck out with Rhys so they could get themselves one of those special drinks, and to hang a card on the wish tree. Though he also kept one secret, just for himself and the love of his life, this one was for all of Rhydin:
