Tonight, I bore witness to the Overlord Challenge between Lilith and Hope!

Lilith, currently the 119th Overlord, looked to defend her title underneath a black banner imprinted with an imposing red battle-axe, flanked by less imposing fruit, ivy and bow emblems. Her second was Karma Armstrong & her Lords and Ladies of Honor consisted of Andrea "Apple" Anderson, John Cole and their gaggle of heathens.

Hope stood under a banner of gold and white, with no pretty pictures. Michelle Montoya was her second (in absentia) and everyone ever associated with Real Rhydin were her people of honor, along with Jaycy.

Lilith chose to test the challenger, and it looked for a moment like her second, Karma, would step into the ring. But in a surprising twist, the Loyal Baron of Old Market - Jaycy, who was one of Hope's people of honor - was chosen!

Then, in another twist, Olaf, the Baron of Dockside, immediately declared Renegade and moved into the ring to face Jaycy!

The affair between Olaf and Jaycy was tight-knit and at one point, a horde of bats flew out of the trunk and put everyone on high guano alert. In fact, the duel wound up tied 4-4 before the new Renegade wound up taking the fifth and final point to pave the way for Hope to face Lilith!

Releasing butterflies and wrapping her arms in chains must have been exactly what Hope needed, because she jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in 3 rounds! The Overlord got into the scoring in the fourth, but in a trade, and though she scored again in the sixth to narrow the gap, that would be her last point as Hope took the duel, 5-2 in seven rounds!

Congratulations to Hope and well reigned Lilith!

After-Match Notes: The Overlord's Squire, Collie, turned in her squire's shield to Hope.
