Is there a way to tell right now which posts we've read or what we haven't read yet? If there isn't, can it be implemented?

Yep, there are different icons to the left side of the posts to show what's been read and what hasn't. One is a filled-in version of the other.

There's also a small link on the upper right of the main forum index when you log in that's an option to read all new subjects posted since your last visit, which is also pretty nifty.
