How many modifiers does each rank have available?

Base ranks have the following amount of modifiers available:
Glass = 0
Jade = 2
Ruby = 3
Sapphire = 5
Emerald = 6
Opal = 6
Diamond = 7*

*During regular dueling hours, the Diamond is limited to 6 modifiers vs. someone ranked below Emerald.

Keep in mind that characters with mentors or who hold the Panther’s Claw also have additional modifiers at their disposal.

Remember, though, that the number of additional modifiers caps at 5. In other words, a mentored character cannot reach 6 modifiers, even if they hold the Panther's Claw. The highest modifier # a non-Emerald can reach is 5. Characters cannot make use of more than 5 mods, regardless of rank/mentee/Panther's Claw status, until they reach or surpass the Emerald rank.

How often are tournaments held?

Some tournaments are held cyclically (e.g. Panther’s Claw; Diamond Quest) while other special tournaments can be held at any time.

Tournaments are typically announced ahead of time in the Duel of Fists IC folder so your character can sign up in advance.

How does the Emerald Ranking System (ERS) work?

In order to be ranked in the top bracket, an Emerald must have fought at least the minimum number of qualifying duels that week (the total number of Emerald vs. Emerald, Opal vs. Opal, and Emerald/Opal vs. Diamond duels divided by the total number of duelists taking part in these duels). Otherwise, a character will be ranked in the bottom bracket.

This system also includes a possible bonus percentage; for each duel an Emerald wins over this qualifying number of duels they get an additional 2% to their winning percentage. This percentage is only based on ERS-qualifying duels.

The ERS resets at the end of each cycle and will be used to determine Diamond Quest seedings.

The latest Emerald Ranking System stats are included as part of the DoF Standings (click on the "Cycle Rankings" link just below the News section).

Duel of Fists Has Special Rings? What Are They?

The special rings present in the Outback are there to further enhance role-play; dueling in these rings does not at all change the matrix or influence the outcome of the duel in any sort of Out of Character fashion.

The special rings (some now retired) were/are:

The Pit: A muddy weevil-laden hole in the ground. Created by Matt; inspired by Jake Thrash

Styx[link], created by Matt

The Pool[link], created by Matt

The Rink (retired): An ice-rink created by freezing the Pool, an idea originating with Courtnall Chambers

The Bridge[link]: Since Deactivated & Remodeled, created by Trinity & Juxtor Lowdye

The Bridge: Redesigned & Active[link], created by Harris D'Artainian

The Fern[link], created by Jaycynda Ashleana

The Can: This ring resembles a giant soda can, making for some extreme close-quarters fighting. Created by Deuce Mack
