Mal and Eri Christmas!

To celebrate the first Christmas in their new house, Mallory and Eri hosted a grand Christmas party! The three story home in Riverwatch was decorated with strings of lights in green and red, with illusory candles in each window facing the street. A large fire was set in each of the fireplaces, with stockings hung on the mantle in the great room. The cozy home was open for the guests to explore, with the exception of Mallory's ritual space on the second floor, and the master bedroom on the third floor.

Guests would find the dining area table loaded with baked treats of all sorts, as Eri was still excited to finally have a kitchen with an oven. Christmas themed dishes and containers were placed strategically around the home and filled with candy. The kitchen counters were stocked with prepared holiday drinks, as well as a well-stocked makeshift bar on the kitchen cart.

Eri, in jolly spirits, was wearing a Christmas hat for the duration of the gathering and gleefully taking on the job of Old Man Frost's helper, handing out wrapped gifts of chocolate truffles, fuzzy hats, and lucky trinkets to all.

Mallory took on the role of the Old Man himself, donning a long blue robe adorned with snowflakes and a round fur cap, holding court over the gift exchange with an ashwood staff. There was a fuzzy white beard, too, tied on with a red ribbon! But the warmth of the fires and the liquor meant that it spent most of the evening dangling loosely around her neck.

Sapphire was technically supposed to be home, in her own time, with her family buuut she totally showed up on Mal and Eri's doorstep anyway. It wasn't really a lie of omission if she told her mom she was going out to a friend's party in RhyDin, right? This was RhyDin. Just not her RhyDin.

"I got this for you," she immediately offered a light up, lawn snowman to Mallory upon entering the party, giving her a hug as she handed it off. She failed to mention where she got it; re: a lawn a few streets over. "Are there any cute boys here? Wait wait, give me the tour first and then the cute boys.

"Also, if anyone asks? I was never here."

You can bet Trick was in attendance! Especially after Eri made sure to mention she'd gotten a bunch of liquor for the occasion. He didn't get wasted, but maintained a nice buzz throughout the duration of the party.

How does Pharlen find out about anything? Probably best not to ask. Though definitely she'd just taken Eri at her word and dropped by. The timelord showed up in a splash of boho, long dress and wraps in bold colors, bearing an armful of crocheted afghans and a set of bright Melamine tablewear and silverware. (She did not seem to realize that the flatware was actually packable!)

The acoustic guitar was not for Eri, though! Pharlen sat down and played a while for the partiers, bright melodies promising the return of summer and the joy of the skies. She did indeed sing to the Spirits, and if there were any about to hear, they might manifest as points of light dancing around the guitar to the music.

She left an envelope stuck to the fridge with a cat butt magnet. In it was a set of gift certificates for Pfaltzgraff. A note read: Choose what you like. Love, Pharlen.

Na-rae's showing up with her no-longer-girlfriend-but-now-new-fiance, Izumi, with gift in hand. Eri and Mallory would get a nice little ornament for their tree; if they had one.. if not, well, it's still nice! The ornament also glows red with the green for that full festive feel.

There were a couple of trees! At one of the witch’s more sober points in the evening, she hung the new ornament on the middle branches of the Christmas tree in the great room, sharing space with lights, ribbon, tinsel, and not many other ornaments — a good collection took years to accrue!

The spirits of Riverwatch seemed to be benign enough, though their appearance at Pharlen’s siren song was the most Mallory had ever seen them. One of the little lights started following her around midnight, dissuaded only briefly when she turned her head and gave the ghostly remnant a sharp “Tch!” to warn them off.

When she wasn’t doing shots with her girlfriend, grousing at ghosts, or delivering presents to guests, she bummed a few cigarettes from her brother to make a few “secret agents” to enjoy once the evening wound down.

The inflatable snowman, dubbed Saint Lucy and adorned with a blindfold, was placed on the second-story balcony as an unwitting taunt to the neighbors down the street.

Mist showed up with a wide smile, wearing elegant robes in sage and holly greens, wide eyed as he inspected all the decorations. He brought a couple of paper lunch bags, decorated with crayon drawings of kitties and snowmen, and snowmen kitties, one for Mallory and one for Eri, and one for both.

Mallory's bag held several tiny bottles of various tinctures and oils he'd made over the year. Eri's of course had a bottle of the Jolly Bird! The third bag held a kitchen witch, of course.

The moment Mist heard the music, he was settled near Pharlen, listening with eyes closed and still as could be. Later, he'd drink enough to get tipsy and goofy, though, really, how could one tell?
