Mad-News

Post by Kalamere »

One of the many aspects that bring Madness to life is the writing that comes with it. The previews and roundups and associated color commentary add just a little bit more fun to the event. And, by this, I don't mean my writing.. that's mostly just filler =)

I'd like to invite anyone interested in submitting content to contact Jake and I to get set up. Whether it's normal forecasting or gossip or interviews with selected duelists, we'd welcome any other contributions. Hit us up and we can help get you setup with a DZ login and a profile pic to associate with your articles.

As an aside, Mad-News is drawn in from the Dueling Zone News Network, which supplies an RSS feed if you'd prefer to subscribe to it rather than visiting the Madness site (only news though, to see brackets and who is in the lead, as well as the latest recorded duels, you'll have to visit the the main Madness site)

I'd love to help with updates like I've done before.

I'd love to write, but I have been out of touch too long, hopefully for some events in the future.

More content this year! This time trying something NEW in the form of a Madness AMA during a gaming stream from Aurast's PC. http://www.ringsofhonor.org/forums/view ... 979#161979

I plan to write one for every round. :)

If I could get the results of past Madnesses, that would be awesome.

I've actually never set up a historical display of Madness past on the web site. It's something I probably should do at some point, but have not as yet.

Not sure if it's the format or what, but I had a horrible time reading that, Aurast. Couldn't make heads or tails of what was going on.

Definitely a unique read. When streaming, Aurast and Apple need to stop the game they are playing (what a crazy sounding game! I love it!) and actually talk about Madness more!

Not as chaotic as trying to keep up with a true live stream (Google Hangout, UStream, etc). I imagine trying to watch a Reddit AMA or IamA live would be pretty chaotic too.

I love the sprinkling of usernames in there that allude to ROH duelists. :) Also was amused at the user getting banned midstream. And of course the usual "I know everything" users you can see in any live stream or general chat in a MMORPG.

I watch a certain Google Hangout once a month, and they take questions from Twitter, the livestream on Yahoo/G+, and in their own IRC at the website. I tried once to watch all three at the same time. It was impossible.

Hard to read? Yes. All live streams are. Brilliant? I think so. :)

Chat = Everything on the left side.
Spoken Dialog / Aurast and Apple on their mics. = Middle.

Sadly what can't be seen = Camera shots of Aurast, so imagination has to be used :( along with game footage. I'd say it's best described as World of Warcraft Arenas.

it's based off streaming sites like twitch.tv.

Historical Madness Brackets

Displays prior to 2010 could be off. Let me know if you spot an error.

Found a bug in the code that the mouseover was always showing you 2014 betting rather than the year you were looking at. This is now fixed, so if you want to see who picked Maria to beat Neo for the championship in 2010 you can.

I don't have any of the betting prior to 2010, so you're out of luck for '07 - '09. I also don't have anything that shows historical pool winners. Maybe I'll work on that down the line.
