Challenge for Dragon's Gate: Baron Cassius Gaius Maximius
Baron Cassius Gaius Maximius, holder of Dragon's Gate,
I, Evan Rush Rynth, have issued a challenge to the Baron of Dragon's Gate, Baron Cassius Gaius Maximius. My reasons are both personal and political and will remain to myself. May honor find us in the rings.

Challenge accepted. As for honor finding us in the ring, I should hope so...because it does not find you in your provocative yet vague challenge to me. I have no issue with being challenged, be assured of that...I see this development as nothing but an opportunity and a gain. But I do not appreciate the fact that you publically declare animosity towards me, and openly refuse to explain yourself. I demand that you do.

Baron Cassius Gaius Maximius,
I have not declared anything but my reasons are personal and political. If you would like a long winded reason to the rhyme, then I must disappoint you; even Dal could not draw reason from me.

No. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to let that be a sufficient answer. You have publically implied that I am unworthy to hold this ring; I deserve an answer.
After I lost to the Overlord, I turned down his offer of acceptance of my Loyalty, feeling that it would look inappropriate. I think, now, that certain issues are more important than appearances of appropriateness, such as a challenge issued by one of the greatest emberassments in the history of the Duel of Swords. I hereby request to be aligned Loyal.

Baron Cassius Gaius Maximius,
I like how you word things. Let me set the record straight. I had a talk with Tass and told him I would be loyal to his cause. I love Tass as a friend. And I believe your ring is still not loyal, though there is a request pending now. That is your issue, not mine. Pretty much sums up the deal.
I never said you were unworthy, nor am I going to say it now. Where do you come up with these ideas is beyond me but anyone following along would see that I simply issued a challenge. No lines to read into here; cut and dry.
As for your remarks, I have no comment for it will just lead to more comments I don't have time for. You can choose your own words, you are an adult. I am more concered about Tass's son-in-law Tormay for his issue is very real and unfolding in ways that we do not understand. This is just a challenge.
Do what you must.

Baron Cassius,
That is fine. I cannot wait to cross my blade with a skilled duelist.
I would summon my friend Tormay ... but I have not see him as of late. Seems something is amiss with him. I am worried.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2009, I was honored to officiate the challenge between the Warlord Evan Rush Rynth, and the Baron of Dragon's Gate Gaius Cassius Maximius.
The Warlord Evan Rush Rynth dueled tonight as a member of House Rising, under the colours of blue and white. He had neither a Second nor a Lady of Honor.
Baron Gaius Cassius Maximius dueled tonight under the standard of a white banner, with a double-headed eagle clutching a fasces, and the letters "S P Q R" inscribed below in gold. His second was Ito Michiko; his Lady of Honor was Galicia "Cee Cee" Rinaldi, in absentia.
The Baron cited that he felt he was disrespected by the Warlord, after the Warlord had cited political and personal reasons. As the Warlord never revealed those reasons, Gaius asked Overlord Tasslehofl Momus to intercede. Tasslehofl did indeed choose to intercede. As there was no Renegade Baron in attendance, the Warlord faced the Overlord in a single match.
The Overlord opened by blocking off the Warlord's opening slice. After a round of defensive indifference, the Warlord returned the favor by tripping the Overlord. The 50/50/90 situation reared its ugly head the next round, putting the Overlord in front; he extended his lead thanks to the Warlord's ill-timed slash. The Warlord then ducked into an advantageous position to halve the Overlord's lead, and after blades met high, the Warlord bookended through the Overlord's slash to level the match at 3.
A lunge by the Warlord under the Overlord's cut put him at match point, but the Overlord was able to duck under the Warlord's returned cut to put it at sudden death. The Warlord lunged right into the Overlord's perfect parry, and the Barony was secured.
Thus, Gaius' second defence was achieved, in the first Baronial Challenge with an Overlord Intercession in fifteen months. Not since Overlord Rakeesh interceded for Baron Bran Bale of Battlefield Park against Leo de Lorenzo had there been an Intercession.
