Take away the phantom, and one sees nothing - one admits that himself. Yet, take away seeing, and one sees a phantom - one forgets that.

I announce my intent to challenge the new Overlord. My intercession was a move to keep Skyler from possibly attaining rule over one of the districts. My apologies to any who suffered personally from this intercession - I did what was important to do in order to protect the public against Skyler's murderous criminal actions.
I do not support Damien as Overlord and now challenge in an attempt to make partial ammends to any slights caused.
I do not ask for forgiveness - only that protecting innocents is more important to me than following typically accepted behavior. The best to Damien and Karen Wilder for their incredible duel, and to Cassius - the worthiest opponent I've faced. Good luck to all.

Baron Rakeesh,
I have seen quite a few events and individual acts take place within the rings of Swords that have saddened me and disgusted me. Tonight I saw you preform a selfish act of dishonor upon the rings of Swords that shall rank in probably the top three of all time. You claim your actions were to protect the sport from one such as Skyler from gaining title more than anything. Perhaps the general populace should be more concerned with having someone like you in title than someone like Skyler. At least Skyler for all his bold faced obnoxious arrogance is just that, whereas you show a whole new level of betrayal of not only your fellow duelers, but of the sport itself.
Never before have I witnessed an Interceeder turn around and denounce the one whom they aided gain title while also announcing intent of immediate challenge of the one whom they aided as soon as the original challenge ends. This was none of your business nor your event, but the Overlord and the challenger's affair, who had their own entroague of participants lined up for this event whom you stole the spotlight from.
As a Renegade Baron who spoke up first you had the right by the rules which I have no dispute with. If your actions were to truly just keep Skyler out of a title, then there is no point for you to need to challenge for Overlord. If you wanted to make up for your "supposed" mistake that seems pretty calculated to me, then you should never have purposeuly commited the mistake and trust those involved to see to similar aspirations of keeping Skyler out of title.
I ask that Senior Baroness Topaz call an emergency session of the Baron's Council to consider a proposal to handle this issue of ethics. I propose the Baron's council vote by majority to bar Rakeesh from challenging for Overlord until such time as Damien's reign in the title ends. This breach of ethics in our sport must be addressed and made an example of I believe.

I'm confused. Since when has dueling been about ethics and morals? I don't think we have to dig too deep into the archives of the DoS histories to find some reprehensible characters that have held titles. Rakeesh seems intent on living by the sword, so why don't you let him die by it as well? I mean that purely in a metaphorical sense, mind you.
Unless Rakeesh smashed a rule over his knee or something I doubt any kind of council meeting will lead to his being barred from challenging. And if it does then we might as well flush all the other rules down the toilet.
These five cents courtesy of Harris.

Rakeesh is just an attention whore, who uses the laughable ideology of keeping me away from a title as an excuse to duel in front of twenty people and try to show off at an Overlord challenge venue. It didn't matter to him that Damien and I had laid plans a week ago for me to stand against Karen's tester. So the liontaur stands in and beats the Overlord's tester, then turns around and challenges the very man he defended? Rubbish! What kind of Hero uses these shady tactics?

Normally, I wouldn't see fit to add my own comments to this matter, but responsibility comes with being a Baron, so I will. I understand Rakeesh's motivations. The problem I have with his actions is this: if you don't want Damien to be Overlord, don't help him become Overlord. I really don't see any other way of looking at it than that. No, no rules were broken tonight. But if a Baron's Council is called, I will certainly understand why, and will support it. While I would not say that these actions disgust me, I would say that they are heavily Machiavellian. To be honest, I feel that if you don't want Damien to be Overlord, then you should let someone else take him down.
Like me.
While this is going to seem very ill-timed, I had every intention of declaring myself Renegade to Damien if he won (which I now do) and challenging him for the Crown. My reason for this is simple. The only reason I was able to challenge for a Ring was because I was granted the right to by Karen, and I feel that I owe her a debt. I had intended to repay my debt by declaring myself Loyal to her and interceding in any challenge that came her way. However, she asked me to declare myself Renegade, and so I did. I still feel, however, that the only way to repay my debt to her is to fight Damien. While I would have preferred to do it before he fought her for the Crown, I will make do with doing so afterwards.
I do not agree with what Rakeesh has done, but I understand it. And so, I make this a personal request to him, before the events of this evening spin out of control. It was clearly very important to you that Skyler not hold a title. I do not know the man well, so I won't comment on that. But you've done what you set out to do. Leave the rest to me.

E's inspired words have moved me. I trust his intentions, and will stand aside my challenge for now, allowing E to pay his debt. If he fails, I will be there to do my own part to make sure that crime and abuse of power does not ravage the innocents of the city from ways of the Barony or Overlordship.
I challenged Skyler's reign in New Haven to protect the innocent civilians he was robbing and murdering. My intentions were the same tonight.
Do win, E. I support your efforts. This old man is not without reason, and though I may not act traditionally, I act in what I believe to be in the greater interest of those I've sworn to help.

Baron Rakeesh.
Did ye nae think I knew thet Skyler would be picked as Damien's Champion? Th' list o' possibles were verra short, after all. Especially considerin' th' list o' names I had able an' even eager tae Test th' Baron.
I left th' matter deliberately vague up until th' last minute, knowin' it would cause uncertainty in me opponents.
In th' end, I trusted Cassius' word thet 'e would defeat Skyler an' put paid tae Damien.
O' course, I also believe thet ye would've issued Challenge tae me ifin I had won this eve.
Yer definition o' Honor is strange, an' yer understandin' o' Faith an' Trust seem lackin'. Ye speak o' protectin' th' Realm, but refuse tae work with those who's charge that task is. Ye call yerself a hero, yet ally yerself with demons. Ye aid a man in becomin' Overlord, yet declare yerself Renegade and speak o' Challengin'... an' now ye step aside because another wishes tae Challenge.
I will nae raise me blade against Damien while 'e wears th' Mantle... but should ye gain it, then expect thet blade tae be aimed at ye.
