Overwhelming Urges

Post by Jaleeisa »

Jal had completed her day's work. Her desk at the Oracle once more neatly organised. Notes made on stories she had in progress. She'd followed up on a couple leads that had been left on her desk. All that work made one thirsty! So, before going home to await Che's rising, she stopped off at the Inn. And very pleased she was to have done so. Miles was tending bar along with Des. Gav was there too. It was a perfect opportunity! She'd been troubled, her thoughts almost constantly turning to the differences between herself and Che. Worried that their lifestyles and cultures would forever keep them from true happiness. Who better to ask for advice than one of Rhydin's happiest couples? After all, they had come from to very different backgrounds, they had made it work. Perhaps they could share some sage advice that would at least start Jal on the right path to bringing her wants and needs to meet Che's halfway.

She'd told them about Che's rather unconventional arrival in her life, and a what little she knew at this time about how her life had changed. The advice was rather simple. So simple that Jal wondered just why she'd not seen that for herself. Trust and love. Two of the greatest powers in the universe. No matter what one's race, background, upbringing, culture, or religion. Though in truth, they had both already been practicing the advice Gav and Des gave, Jal realised as she sat there, lost in thought. They were slowly feeling their way to each other. But Jaleeisa knew she already trusted Che. With her heart, her pride, her soul and her very life. How could she not? Even with so much unknown to her yet, she instinctively knew that she could trust him. And love was something that had begun to bloom. At the moment, it was a tender, delicate bud. With knowing and understanding, it would blossom to the most beautiful and cherished of flowers.

As she sat there considering the advice and trying to objectively evaluate their relationship, she heard some talk about her friend, Rosie. At the same time, the most overwhelming urge to be home overcame her. Not just to go home, but to be there NOW! Without hesitation, without lingering. Even without farewells, if it would get her out of there faster and back home. As she left her nearly full tankard of ale on the bartop and slid to feet from her stool, the feeling grew stronger. A shiver took over, she couldn't still it. But she had to stay a moment more. She'd seen the beginnings of the problems for Rosie a couple nights earlier. And now to hear something was wrong with her friend, she struggled against the sensation to leave, to run, to even teleport to get home quicker.

As she questioned Des and Gav about Rosie's ailment, the shiver became trembling. She was shaking hard enough to almost make her teeth chatter. A sensation of dread swept through her. She managed to fight it long enough to find out that Rosie was unwell and to mention that if Rosie needed her for anything, she'd be there. She had to go! She couldn't control the sensation a moment longer. She all but ran from the common room, through the door, barely waiting until she reached the porch to teleport to her sitting room. And only that because she'd never felt comfortable teleporting where someone might step into the spell and be hurt.

Panting, she stepped into her sitting room. Her face chilled with sweat, her hands shaking as though palsied. Heart racing, gray eyes wide with some unknown fear. But as soon as the portal closed with her feet firmly in her sitting room, the sensation began to fade. Jal strode on shaking legs over to the cabinet that held wine and glasses. She poured a rich red and leaned against the cabinet, downing the first glass quickly before pouring another.

Finally, her body stopped shaking enough to trust her legs. She moved to the divan, collapsing into it's seat. Not even caring at the moment when the wine in her glass splashed the lovely, soft upholstery. Reaching out through the bond, still shivering, even her mental sending a little breathless with the panic that had flared in the Inn. ~ Che, I need you. I'm frightened and don't know why. Please.. I'm shaking and can't stop and I need your arms around me!~

Sleeping the sleep of his people Chereylen slumbered deep within the healing embrace of the earth. There were still a couple of hours left until the radiant light of the sun would dip beneath the western horizon and he would rise to return to his Lifemate’s side. His rest should have remained undisturbed as he had placed wards around their home to keep Jaleeisa within the safety of it’s walls.

Brown eyes snapped open and flashed to red. His incisors lengthened as he felt the evil presence of Vampires around his woman in the Inn. Rich, dark soil, spewed upward in a geyser as the Carpathian male called forth a thick blanket of clouds to shield the sun while shifting to multi-colored droplets of mist that streaked across the sky toward town.

Although he had no physical form his eyes still felt as though a thousand needles were piercing them as his mind sought hers. He had no time to argue with her about what was right and what was wrong. Where she should be and where she should not be. He was miles from town and the threat was in the same room with her. He did not want to put her through the horror of having to use her to kill through her eyes. She was pure and innocent, the light to his darkness. If he could get her back to the house before harm could come to her he would prefer it.

No second thoughts were spared for his actions just as none were when he battled the undead. He built an oppressive feeling of dread within Jal’s mind that was immediate, overwhelming, and nonspecific. It should have sent her straight from the Inn. She stayed to check on a friend. He gave another mental push to her thoughts making the feeling even stronger and more impossible for her to resist.

The teleporting came as a surprise that he found he approved of greatly. His Lifemate had gifts he would need to discover more about that she could use in times of need. As she called out to him it broke his heart to hear the panic and confusion in her voice but it enabled him to shackle the beast that risen when he discovered she had placed herself in such a dangerous situation.

The mist flowed through a tiny crack beneath the door then materialized into his human form. Che strode through the house to the sitting room to take her shivering form into his arms in a reassuring embrace. “I am here little one. There is no need to be frightened now. I will always be here should ye have need.”
