Unifier Brewing Company

An unassuming brick building near the Seaside coast, just outside the walls of RhyDin and backed onto wild forest land, has been converted into a small craft brewery and distillery. The staff and output are small but steadily growing, as the business has been in operation only a few months. A slate outside the double-wide barn door lists products ready for sale and projects in progress, typically a variety of beers, whiskeys and rum, with brewed soft drinks (ginger beer, sarsaparilla) occasionally offered.

Within the entry, a concrete-floored area doubles as a foyer and loading area for carts. Depending on the time of day, you may find the proprietor, Juniper Fae, organizing and labeling, or the brewer, Nicklaus Burison, hauling bottles and barrels from the racking room. Said racking area is through another wide doorway, lined with shelves of products in the process of settling and barrel-aging. A separate room off the entry is behind a heavier, barred door, labeled "Still: No Unauthorized Entry". If authorized, visitors will see a chemist's laboratory of pots, tubes, burners, and other apparatus, in use only sporadically. Even when no distillation is ongoing, the building holds a persistent aroma of alcohol, the result of the mash tuns and fermentation vats in the brewery proper, the third room off the foyer.

A warehouse-sized open area, the main brewery includes Nicklaus' workshop for woodwork, smithing, glassblowing, and whatever other arts are required to keep the brewery functioning. The owners do purchase most equipment from other vendors, however, as attested by the pallets and crates of empty bottles and kegs, alongside stocks of ingredients: malt, sugar, molasses, honey, dried fruit, spices, etc. A brick oven and hearth have been added alongside the forge, with a small table and chairs alongside to create a dining area. A pump running from an outdoor well supplies the copious amounts of water needed for operations. Typically, the brewery's assistant, Ritz, is found here, filling and stirring vessels per Nicklaus' schedule.

A door in the back of the brewing floor is carved with the warning: "Private". Beyond, stairs wind up to the building's second story, the owner's residence, a small bedroom and bath converted from the former factory's attic. The space has an industrial aesthetic, but benefits from the warmth of the forge-fire below and the running water from the main pump. Guests (or intruders) may note the oversized bed, reinforced with heavy timbers and steel cables.

Unifier Brewing Company - Tea for Juniper

Post by Elessaria » Sat Jun 15, 2019 10:59 pm

Once Juniper's pregnancy was confirmed, Elessaria offered to create a special blend of tea to aid in easing the less enjoyable symptoms that accompanied being with child, as well as being restorative and strengthening. The Empath did not how long Juniper would carry her daughter, but Eless' creation could be drunk the entire pregnancy. Of course, if Juniper wished, Eless could adjust the tea as needed or desired.

Eless spent the morning at her workbench until she decided on a satisfactory offering. The base was a rooibos tea since it did ntot contain caffeine and to that she added a touch of chamomile and lemon balm to aid with sleep and anxiety, along with ginger and mint to help soothe any nausea. Finally Eless added red raspberry leaf as it was believed to help tone uterine muscles in addition to being a source o wf iron.

Once the blend passed herbalist's stringent standards, she packed some of the tea into little linen packets for convenience while the rest she placed in a pretty tin, painted with purple flowers on a lavender background. Eless put together a little care package, along with a note of explanation and then sent Tobias, one of the street urchins in her employ, to deliver it at the Unifer Brewing Company.

After giving the lad directions, Eless began her next project.

'Cause I need you here...
Let beauty come out of ashes...
And when I pray to God all I ask is
Can beauty come out of ashes?~-Ashes
