It was early in the morning when Cory began his journey to the countryside. A few days had passed since being given the news of Quinn's departure, which was later retracted. It mattered not, he had to see her. Her smiling face shining bright like the rising sun before him. The pickup accelerated down the highway. Only a few more miles to go, miles away from what he desired.

He fought to maintain control of the bulky vehicle through the turns. Fishtailing from side to side as tires hit the gravel drive. Deciding it best to ease up, not wanting to seem like too much a madman. Reching the circle before the ranch house he threw the transmission into park and slid from the truck. The door left ajar as he jogged to the porch, stairs skipped altogether with a hurdle. Cory gave a knock to the door and waited impatiently, trying to peer past the shades.

The door cracked open only slightly for Elizabeth to poke her head out. "Yes?"

"Is Quinn here? I need to speak with her." Ungency spilling forth as he craned his neck for a glimpse inside the home.

"She's not home, she went out last night and has not returned yet, to my knowledge." Elizabeth quipped, suddenly biting her lip as she realized her error. Divulging more than she promised Quinn the night before. Her only salvation was to close the door and hopefully Cory would go away, but it was never so easy to rid oneself of the southerner. He held the door in place with a single hand as Elizabeth struggled to shut him out.

"Listen, she doesn't want to see you or talk to you anymore. Just go away before you force me to call the boys down to escort you off." Straining out the words as she put all her might into her efforts.

"At least let me see our daughter." Cory didn't seem to be having such difficulties.

"She's still.... a...sleep. Just go!" Quite surprised when the immovable object relented. The door slamming shut. "Finally.." she muttered and puffed a strand of hair out of her eyes.

"Then please tell her I came by and ned to see her." Although he knew from her tone and body language the message wouldn't be relayed.
Cory lingered before the door a moment before taking paces backward to the stairs, turning only to descend the stairs then turning back. Gazing upon the large home again with a dejected sigh.

He sat in the cab for several more minutes, hoping desperately Quinn would arrive soon enough. No luck though, he could feel a glare being cast from inside. Before building any further of a bad reputation with Quinn's business partner Cory started the truck and whipped it around in the drive.

It was a long, lonely drive back into the city. Even as the sun rose behind him all he could see ahead was darkness.
"I took your guilt and placed it into me..."
