Jenia, wraiths, and a dark warrior

Post by Xenograg »

The Arena of the Duel of Swords became a battleground once again Thursday night. Jenia and the wraiths lulled Xenograg and his allies into a false sense of safety before attacking with never before seen numbers. Xenograg fell to the agonizing touch of several wraiths, and then was slashed across the left forearm by Jenia--despite the valiant efforts of Karen Wilder, the Drasoinis, and others.

Partially healed by Illusia but still weak (and disarmed), Xenograg was a hindrance to his own cause. Jake Thrash took it upon himself to evacuate the Darelir sorcerer from the Arena.

Jake Thrash carried Xenograg out of the Arena. Xenograg insisted he could walk back to Dojo Darelir; Jake let him but stayed at his side. Xenograg appeared to regain his strength as he walked, but Jake refused to let him return to the Arena. At the gated door of the dojo, Jake extracted a promise from Xenograg that he would return to Amaltea and seek further healing.

Xenograg was as good as his word, stepping through the magic mirror into his apartments within Teleperien's palace in Eldicor. Amaltea's anger was her usual reaction to the fear she felt. Over his protests, Amaltea had the elven queen woken up. As before, Teleperien took direct personal care of Xenograg's injuries. She found the one physical wound closed and already well knitted. Xenograg explained how Illusia Drasoini had healed the worst of it, and his restored vigor continuing that work. Teleperien then brought forth her power to complete the healing of his whole body.

Amaltea forbade Xenograg's return to the Arena, as did his healer (though Teleperien was greatly tempted to go with him). He was put to bed and given an elixir to drink. It soon took effect and Xenograg passed into sleep.

REWARD!

I was forced to leave my two swords behind in the Arena on Thursday night.

I will pay a reward for each one returned to me.

I will also pay for information regarding their whereabouts.

Responses to be sent to Dojo Darelir in the Foreign Quarter.

It is late. The full moon is high in the sky, illuminating the realm Teleperien has called home for many years. She sits on the balcony outside her apartments that overlook the hills that lay behind the small village of Sawery. They hold a ghostly grey color instead the shades of green and yellow of this time of year. The elf doesn't seem to notice the colors nor anything else for that matter. Her mind was on the events of the evening.

She had accompanied Amaltea and Xenograg to the dueling arena to help recover his swords. She expected trouble, and she was not disappointed. The corpse they call Jenia chose Josh for her victim. After a short duel, she released wraiths that quickly possessed his body.

Tele smiles as she sees in her mind's eye that Xenograg used his remembered talent and put it to full use. He quickly used the spell that transformed him into the wraith world where he could fight and defeat the wraiths. It was amazing to watch.. when she could; for she was hard pressed herself.

Just before the battle, the girl-woman Lily entered the arena. With her came a huge black knight with armor of some fell black metal. It was fearsome to see. It hovered around this 'child' as a protector. Tele had seen the child once or twice before, but only got the measure that the seemingly innocent was evil and was the foster daughter to Shakira, Xenograg's nemesis.

Tele was aware of the different dramas that were unfolding about her, but her main task was to keep Xenograg from harm as he fought the wraiths. Lily sent her the black knight to interfere. Tele and Amaltea stood together. As the knight approached Tele knew that her blade would do no good. So she sent a blinding flash of white light from the blade Illuvator. It did pause the knight for a moment, but it announced in a very unnatural voice.

'I have been protected against you.' Tele didn't answer for she was not so much concerned with that as she was staying alive. This foe was beyond her strength so she had to use her wits. After an exchange or two Tele felt a familiar presence.

Where did it come from? Tele stretched her mind and realized it came from the monster that stood in front of her. She couldn't place the presence at the moment, but maybe she can reach it. She focused on her voice. Once gift of the Valor was her voice, it held the grace and power of the Blessed Ones. She spoke in a clear musical voice.

'I know you.' Though the creature may not have reacted, she knew that the musical notes penetrated that evil metal. She would have to wait to see if it had any affect, it at all. Sir Robert came to her side for Amaltea was busy with Jenia and Lus. Tele looked around at Xenograg to see how he fared and she was knocked a off her feet for a few feet by a swing of the huge sword carried by the knight. Thankfully she had her mithril mail-shirt on under her clothes and she would have a bruise but no more.

It stopped as suddenly it began. The corpse was gone with all the wraiths, and the knight had retreated to the side of the woman-child Lily. Teleperien didn't know all of the people involved, but it seemed that someone called 'PJ' had this woman-child in her arms hugging her tight.

Xerethon. The knight was called Xerethon.

It was the knight that had Tele's attention. She took a chance and bent her thought on the knight and skillfully probed in its memory and mind. In the middle of this Xenograg called her name. Tele quickly came to herself and looked to see that Illusia lay prone on the floor. After putting forth a great deal of energy to revive Illusia, Tele was only dimly aware of the goings on around her. She had to get back to Eldicor as soon as may be.

Soon, she was back in her apartments and she dismissed all from her. She wanted to digest that evening's drama. PJ and Lily. Xerethon.

Xerethon..

Tele sat still and closed her eyes and allowed her mind to flow backward into time. Recalling images, presences. Her eyes flew open as realization struck.

She knows without a doubt who is under that black armor.

It was a good weekend, even including his dueling loss to Kaja Adair. Xenograg did not encounter Jenia, Xerethon, Lily, or Anubis. He also recovered Hiethur -- from Imp, of all people. Negotiating with the blue creature was tiresome but the demanded price for Hiethur was ridiculously low.

Xenograg then received a strong lead on the Ostego Blade from Sarah, who accepted a small reward for the service. If her information is true, the sword's recovery will be difficult -- Xenograg is most unwelcome in Badside. There are two people who could help here. One is a friend, the other a wildcard:

Jake Thrash
