You Eclipsed by Me

Post by Raevyx_Araya »

The night began as usual, yet took an interesting twist after Azjah left the Annex. The Bloodspeaker, Shahai, that he scarred was back and sat quietly in the shadows. She seemed uneasy though, shifting around as he made his way towards a table in the back of the room. Dimitri, Sylus, and Xenograg all noticed her yet paid as much attention to her as one would a stray dog. Raevyx knew that their senses were on point, that they were not totally ignoring, that they were watch, and waiting. Raevyx sensed this, which prompted him to remove the tainted blade from his belt, and placed it on the table. A sickly green glow emitted from the base of the blade as it sat quietly on the table. Shahai’s interested peaked at the sight of his tainted blade; her eyes glittered almost as if she wanted the blade for herself. Raevyx noticed this to so, he placed his hand on the sheath, half guarding, half expecting something to happen. His other hand remained hidden and very carefully and very slowly, he removed “Uoi'notan Avuna”, his Baatorian green steel bastard sword, from its scabbard. The Bloodspeaker began to move out of her shadows and so did Raevyx. He took the tainted blade and placed it back on his belt, then rose from his table and headed towards the encroaching shadows. Perhaps the Elven Queen was right, fell beings have begun to frequent this place more often.

As the Drow made his way to the shadows, the Bloodspeaker moved quickly, then flung a throwing star, which came to rest directly in the middle of his back. He turned, and then headed for the new location. “You seem to think that I am bothered by such devices?” Was his cold reply as he edged closer to her. “I have endured far more than you could possibly fathom.” His cold calm demeanor obviously annoyed her greatly, yet he pressed on. She sent her first tendril to wrap around his neck, squeezing tightly as he continued to lessen the distance between them. With each step he took, he flexed the muscles in his neck, allowing him enough time to take a breath, before she would tighten its grip. It seemed that she had a quick retort for any situation; the following response caused an evil grin to show on his face. “You left a scar that I will not forget.” She said in contempt. Raevyx’s grin disappeared as he took a final step towards the Bloodspeaker, then, in a flash of speed; he lunged towards her all while leading with and finally bringing “Uoi'notan Avuna” out and into the open, Shahai’s eyes grew as the nimble Drow flew towards her. While en route, Raevyx drew the tainted kris and readied it for another gratifying blow. The Bloodspeaker narrowly avoided the massive blade as it slipped past her head, but could not avoid the searing bite of “Vlos Daewl”, the ichor tainted kris. “Vlos Daewl” bit hungrily into Shahai’s back as he rolled to a standing position. Her hiss let him know that the small blade was doing its work, pumping the ichor deep into her tainted body. The longer that the ichor pumped into her the more damage it was doing. In anger, she lashed out, sending a tendril to the arm that held the tainted kris. Raevyx’s response was one of complete dominance, “Magic, no? You do know that my Lord protects me from such effects?” He followed the statement with a cold, dark laugh then a hefty smack to her skull with the flat of the massive bastard sword. Her head reeled as the force of the impact sent her to the floor. As she crumbled to the floor, he removed the kris from her back. Shahai retaliated with another tendril, this one wrapped tightly around his right wrist, causing it to go numb. He shrugged off the tendril that wrapped around his let arm the raised the massive blade in his right hand, showing her that he was still in full control of all of his limbs. Raevyx’s blatant flaunting of her lack of power over him came to a head as she repaid him in full. With “Uoi'notan Avuna” raised above her and “Vlos Daewl” resting at his side, she took the opportunity to draw a small obsidian dagger, and then plunge it into his ribs. As the tiny blade parted his rips and penetrated his chest, it dissolved into a plethora of tiny obsidian shards that tore at his insides. The Bloodspeaker grinned as she tucked tail and ran, dissolving into the shadows before the Drow could smite her to the floor.

Raevyx placed his weapons back in their respective sheath and scabbard before focusing in on his Lords call and accepting his will. A dark red aura slowly grew around him, continually darkening until a sphere of darkness enveloped him. The blackness held silence for several minutes until a deafening roar erupted from the Drow. Others in the Annex quickly turned to regard the ear splitting sound; Lord Asmodeus’ will, was accepted. Within the sphere, the obsidian shards flew out of the tainted drows body, and then dissolved into nothingness before they breached the edge of the sphere. The darkness slowly faded and the Annex saw the Drow bleed. His blood was bright red at first, but took on a green tint as moments passed. The bright red blood that once flowed freely out of his body began to slow as it took on a dark green hue. The ichor-laced blood ran down his body, eating away at Raevyx’s clothes as it made its way down to the stone floor. Random poked a bit of the blood that now pooled on the floor and quickly removed his glove hoping that the acid would not eat away at his finger. The blood quickly turned to ichor and slowed to nearly nothing as it continued to eat away at the dark elf’s clothes. Then, the flow stopped and a few moments later, bright red wounds became visible to the arena. The dark red aura that appeared around him slowly vanished and the dark elf fell. The landing drove the throwing star deeper into his back and began to bleed worse. Random quickly noticed the fresh, bright red blood and came to Raevyx’s side, turned him over, then removed the throwing star. Upon its removal, the wound began to flow freely from the deep wound and all over Random; his quick thinking probably saved the Drow’s life. He placed his hand over the wound and began to chat softly, which caused his hands to glow to a brilliant white. When he was finished, the wound was completely gone but no-sooner, than he healed the wound he realized that he transferred it to himself. With an obvious grimace, he felt his back getting warm and sticky as the blood began to soak his back. Random was relieved that he had helped the dark elf, yet Raevyx still lay on the floor, unconscious and bleeding slightly from his chest. The night ended as the patrons left the Annex and the Drow, still lying unconscious on the floor, his clothes gone, and his life hanging delicately from a small thread.

Insufferable Arrogance

Post by Shahai Iida »

I sat silently in the Isle, wrapped in shadow, and seeking recovery time after my encounter with the Drow. I was pondering that encounter and the blade he'd used to mark me, the one he'd called Blood Wish, when the vampire and the younger Kurgen arrived. He sat down and pulled an aura around him, one that pushed at the shadows as the vampire joined him. He told the vampire that I watched, and she gave a slight shrug, “I hope not the eyes I’d gladly scratch out.”

He laughed coldly, “There are several like that, are there not?” He then pushed out a third chair at his table, “Care to join us bloodspeaker?”

I gave a slight lift of a brow as he said please. In my heavily accented common, “For what purpose Druid?” and I pulled the shadows back around me.

He grinned, “I was called a Druid once, though that is not what I am now.” These Kurgens are more chameleon than any creature known, and how much to believe is the question. “Druids live their lives among the trees and animals, they do not have mastery over the shadows. I will not ask again, if I wished to harm you, you would already be hurt.”

His arrogance is completely insufferable. He assumes much to make such a boast, and one that he cannot fulfill. “You could try, but to what purpose do you wish me to join you?”

He grinned and chanted as the shadows appeared to become solid, closing around me, but a simple word of my own and they reverted back to simply shadows. He is not the only creature with the power to command shadow and to move within them. Again his arrogance, “You believe you can contend with me over the dominion of shadows?” Oh, he had no idea about what we are capable of, lest he not ask such a fool hardy question.

“I merely wish to talk, that and nothing more.”

I folded my hands into the sleeves of her kimono, “I know that I can.”

“You do not know half as much as you think you do… parasite.”

“I know what I am capable of, that is enough.” I refuse to be engaged by such pompous creatures. Those creatures who cannot recognize that true power is not something that is flaunted, but rather used judiciously, and only when necessary are not worthy of attention. The morphing nature of this one has grown old, as do his threats. “Oh, by the way, I’m working on a stronger poison, one that is infectious.”

“So be it.” His arrogance will be his downfall.

I ordered hot tea, never joining the shifter, and was rewarded by the appearance of the drow’s soul stone. The caller pulled the oval stone from her pocket, and it was covered in ichor or blood, it was difficult to tell from where I sat. The woman called the vampire to her, and sought assistance with the oozing fluid from the stone.

I rose and offered my assistance to cease the oozing, “I can stop it.”

The stone’s pulse became very rapid as I approached, but the vampire turned to look at me as her fingers touched the stone. “It is not for your hands Shahai.” And yet, the pulse that emanated from that soul stone drew me as few others could. Here was the creature who'd marked me. I could read it in the blood the oozed from the stone, the same blood I'd tasted with a blood tendril.

I gave her a cold smile, “If you say thus.” But I would have been able to end the flow of the fluid from that stone, and I would have done so with great pleasure.

Returning to the shadows, I left the Isle, and will need to find a way to obtain that stone. Yes, I will have that stone for revenge and retribution.

I arrived at the Isle, my intuition telling me that something must have happened... something totally, weirdly wrong. Who might it be? Shifters got into another set of problems? News about Anne? Something from Alais? I found a place near Artemus, when he started silly argument with Shahai. We Asmodeans prefer avoiding unnecessary arguments, so I could only watch with a toxic smirk. Artemus is just a young shifter, I wouldn't expect any rationality from him. I was already becoming bored when Azjah asked me to come over and take a look at a gem she had.

I sensed Raevyx touch in this gem. Why does life always go in circles? I remembered the dark radiance of black diamond in my hand, pulsating like a heartbeat in the insanity of Baatorian space warp. Hopefully this would not be just as complex. Snatching the gem right before Shahai tried to get her claws on it, I left. I needed to take a good look at the gem, and think without the bloodspeaker watching me.

With the gem I could pick the direction to Raevyx, but not the distance. Too much depended on his condition, and judging by the gem - it was getting worse and worse. Had he been in a direct link with me, I could have traced him... Too late to regret something in any case. "Would have"'s don't get us anywhere. I decided that I'd need to resort to simple way of using the gem as a compass.

Dressing for a run (white shorts, simple t-shirt, simple running shoes) I came to the Isle. Pretending to treat this just like a fun run along the evening streets, I invited Artemus and Azjah to join.

Exhaustion and Dark Dreams

Post by Azjah von Drachen Walde »

Rhaine had invited me to join them on their run, though I do not fathom her reasoning. With a glance at Eoin, I changed and joined her on her run. We went first to obtain a map of the city, and then we ran for what felt like hours. The next time, I shall bring either Gabrielle or Lucien, for they would not be worn down by the vampiress' stamina, nor be too tired to get me home once again.

I do not posess magic in any form, and yet for some reason, it seemed important to Rhaine that I be present. The route took us in a spiralling circular path, as though we were seaching.

Raevyx. That stone was tied to him, and Rhaine had taken it when I sought her help to stop the bleeding the stone seemed to be doing. Was this run she'd invited me on a means of searching for him?

In the end, we wound up back where we had started. I was exhausted, and did not feel we were any closer to finding Raevyx, who'd disappeared after his encounter with the blood speaker, and now I worry that the bleeding stone is somehow tied to him, and that he remains somewhere we cannot find, perhaps dying.

Eoin escorted me back to the Palazzo where I dropped into my bed in exhaustion. When sleep came, it was full of dark dreams.

It was a mixture of concern and cold calculation, hurry and precision. She ran, her senses enhanced to their limits, every step resonating in all of her being. Every minute she stopped, and a new thin line slashed the street map of RhyDin. Azjah's worry was a pulsating orange flame slightly behind her. Human female was already struggling to keep her speed up to vampiress. But she could, and would not slow down.

Raevyx... damn, what did he get himself into?! Rhaine chased away the thoughts. She needed to focus on signals from the stone. Time was critical. She could approximate the condition of fellow priest from the stone, and what she could see, was discouraging. For a hundredth time she cussed at herself. Azjah had some sort of a car, they could try to use it... However Rhaine was not too sure that the waves of stone enchantment would not interfere with the metal of the vehicle. Raevyx... who in the Nine Hells could dare to harm you?

Finally they stopped. All of the thin lines intersected in one point. She glanced at Artemus and Azjah... No, she thought. I can call them later. Who knows what awaits at the intersection point, and... I would hate the human to see me at work

Days Go By

Post by Raevyx_Araya »

Days passed into weeks as time seemed to stand still for the unconscious Drow. His God had come to him and expelled the obsidian shards that the Bloodspeaker had thrust into him. In doing so, he spent every ounce of energy that he had which resulted in his unconscious state. His body began to staunch the flow of blood on its own, but the jagged wounds would not fully close without some sort of medical attention. The floor, now stained a deep red, continued to collect what he bled, then pooled it beneath and around him. A copious amount of blood resided around Raevyx, which gave the Annex a very distinct and overpowering metallic smell. A week would pass before anyone noticed.

The Shadow of a Dream

Post by Raevyx_Araya »

After expelling the many shards from his body, Raevyx was exhausted from all the energy he spent removing the shards. He abruptly fell backwards and blacked out before landing soundly on his back, which shoved the star deeper inside his back and closer to his spine.

The breath of life suddenly flew into Raevyx as he sat straight up in his bed. His eyes darted around the room as if looking for someone or something. It had all happened so quickly, he remembers calling to his Lord, and then pain erupted in his chest, the Grim Lord was with Raevyx, forcing all of the obsidian shards out of his chest and into the blackness that surrounded him. He sat there, trying to remember what happened next, but nothing came to mind. Then Raevyx turned and looked around the room and realized that, he was in his bed, in his House deep in the Underdark. He slid out of his bed and made his way into the main room, touching some of his effects has he entered. Everything was so real. Raevyx sat down in a recliner and reeled. “Was it just a dream?” he said aloud. “It felt so real … the throwing star slamming into my back, the dagger shattering inside me, the pain of the shards reversing.” he continued to say aloud. Raevyx just shook his head as he leaned back in his recliner, and drifted off to sleep.

The Annex finally opened for its Sunday night fights as for a surprise. Raevyx, still lying where he fell, was motionless, his pulse and breathing were undetectable. The heavy scent of rusting metal got to Azjah, so she decided to find the source of the aroma. Azjah choked on her words when she saw Raevyx, lying in the shadows, his blood dried and caked around him. “Raevyx?” she question softly. When no response came, she checked for a pulse and found none. Azjah then called for Eoin and instructed him to take Raevyx to the Palazzo to a guest room prepared for him.

The Memory Remains

Post by Raevyx_Araya »

How does one come to terms with their life, as they see all three hundred and thirty-seven years flash right before their eyes? Time stands still and the memories just keep coming. He knew not what was going on in the palazzo but from all of the surrounding chaos one think called to him. Soft words floated through his solitary abyss, harsh and soothing at the same time. The words spoke of his past, the many years in the spent deep in the bowels of the earth, deep in the Underdark.

The memories came flooding back as if they happened only yesterday. The first time he opened his eyes as saw his colorful world, the first time he picked up a blade. They all came back. The memories of the love that betrayed him, by listening to those who did not know him burned in him mind. The first time his hands lifted a blade and began his combat training. The memories had no order, they just came at him, never stopping, just assaulting his mind. They continued for what seemed like years, never stopping and often replaying, some replayed over and over again, as if adding salt to his wounds.

The present came in brief glimpses, a flash of some one that he had met then another flash of an event that he had witnessed. The many organized fights that he laid played through his head. The many encounters on the surface flowed through his thoughts. One especially dark and tainted memory drifted across his consciousness. A small scuffle that left him in dire need ravaged his psyche, “She was here” his subconscious whisper. His memory played the rest; she was standing above him leering like a jackal does over it newly found carcass. She reached down and took something from him, a small oval shaped stone. He could not believe that she had the audacity to steal from the dead. Then the memories abruptly stopped and he came to with a deafening roar. His right hand clenched around a small object as his deep crimson eyes swirled chaotically.

and so it begins

Post by Raevyx_Araya »

He sat there for quite some time, looking around, getting a feel for where he was, and then finally realizing that he was in one of the guest rooms of the Palazzo. He knew that the twins would have already known that he had awoken and thus he knew that he had to move quickly. The twins would like nothing better than to exact the same revenge upon him that he had inflicted upon Lucien and in his current state, he knew that he could not deal with them at this time.

He sprang from the bed and quickly put on his clothes and armor, then found his weapons neatly placed on top of a chest of drawers. Once he had all of his things opened the door to his room and enveloped the hallways with darkness. He made his way through the darkness with extreme haste, towards the portico and to the streets of Rhy’Din. As he passed through the portico, he felt two very malicious stares burning holes into his back.

He made for the Golden Ivy, but stopped short, its beautiful walls now lie on to the ground. It seemed that an arsonist had stuck the city while he was, away. The Golden Ivy had burnt to the ground as well. He was rather glad that he was not living there anymore but a bit upset at the same time.

He then made his way to the tree, where his book was and found that one message was awaiting him. The short note was from Rhaine, and it simply stated that someone answered his call. With that in mind, he turned a cold gaze back towards Rhy’Din then back to the darkness before him. With a smirk, he vanished into the blackness, silently and quickly, he was gone.

I had checked in on Raevyx daily, and there had been no outward sign that he was recovering. There had been some days when I sat there beside his pallet, and he'd never moved a single muscle. I had begun to wonder if Raevyx would ever return to us, and I was missing my friend.

This morning, as I headed for his room, Lucien paused, "He has left."

I was completely shocked, "Lucien, he was essentially comatose, how could he leave?"

"He regained his senses fairly quickly. Not uncommon for the Drow." Lucien remained completely unmoving. It is a state that gives most people the proverbial willies. I stood there studying him a long time.

"Lucien, Raevyx was a guest in my home. You and your brother will remember that."

He bowed slightly, "Of course."

Turning, I headed back to my suites. With Raevyx gone, I have no way to know where or if he's truly healed.

The Witching Hour

Post by Raevyx_Araya »

Several hours after escaping from the Palazzo, Raevyx reeled. A great pain shot through his chest and sent the powerful Drow to his knees. His breaths came in short gasps as he tried to stand and dismiss the excruciating pain, but his lungs and heart ached and that sent him back down to his knees. He knew that he needed rest and so he sought any kind of shelter that was nearby. He crawled into a small space that was made form several fallen trees and broken branches. The trees had fallen recently because they still had a great deal of their leaves still attached to the limbs. Once inside the makeshift shelter, he passed out and slept for many hours.

Raevyx awoke with a start, his senses clawing at him for sleeping so much. He instinctively checked for his weapons, knowing that some like to play with their food, before they eat it. Then, he gave his surroundings a once over, checking for any signs of people following him. He carefully crawled out of the shelter and then got to his feet. “Just because you are wounded does –NOT– mean that you can be sloppy and allow such things to happen.” He growled to himself in anger of his current state. With that, he continued on, deeper into the mountains.

Guest Departure

Post by Gabriel »

The Drow awoke unexpectedly, and I felt it the moment he began to study his surroundings.

Lucien felt it as well, and we both waited to see what he would do next.

It was not long before he'd donned his armor, grabbed his things and headed into the shadows.

We watched him disappear into the shadows once he'd gotten through the front doors, but neither of us followed him.

He was forbidden to us both.

Pity.

Walking After Midnight

Post by Raevyx_Araya »

Evening brought a return to the venues and a return to his friends, but Raevyx was not entirely sure returning so soon, would be a good idea. He arrived at the Annex a bit after it opened and slowly made his way in, by the way of the shadows. He entered and stayed to the darkened corners until Azjah caught a glimpse of his swirling crimson orbs. “Raevyx?” she asked with a surprised smile. He just offered a simple nod, and stepped out of the shadows. After a bit of their usual silence, she scooted over and asked him to join her. He moved towards the couch and took a seat next to the beautiful platinum blonde.

He rose abruptly and walked back into the locker room, then returned with a notepad and a pencil and sat back down next to Azjah. He called a round under Azjah’s tutelage and enjoyed it. When the duel ended, he decided that one was enough for tonight and turned in his paper work, then returned to sit next to Azjah.

The rest of the night revolved around Azjah worrying about him, his lack of trust in those he cares for, and about the twins. After a while, Anne arrived and Azjah introduced them. Shortly there after, Klinton arrived, both he and Anne noticed and got up and went to different parts of the Annex. Azjah and Klinton dueled twice, first in fists’ and then in swords. While they dueled, Raevyx moved back to the couch from his where he was standing and waited for the duels to be over. As they ended, Klinton departed and Azjah returned to the couch. The continued to talk about trust and their hearts, but the conversation soured and ended abruptly as he stood and bid her a good evening.

Azjah had told him that he had two options, return to his room at the palazzo, or get a room at the Red Dragon Inn. He thought that he only had one option, to stay wherever he pleased. She quickly added his option to hers, making the count rise to three. Why did she want him to stay in such extravagance? Why would she not let him just stay where He wanted to stay? He roamed the streets the entire night; sleep would come later.
